“The Super Bowl Went to Jalen’s Head” – Skip Bayless Accuses Eagles Management of Defaming Jalen Hurts Intentionally
Skip Bayless believes the Eagles may have leaked ESPN stories about Jalen Hurts to send a message.

- Skip Bayless accuses Eagles management of intentionally defaming Jalen Hurts following the team's offensive struggles.
- Hurts faced criticism for his performance in the wildcard round, leading to the dismissal of offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo.
- The Eagles have communicated to Hurts that he must improve his game as he enters a critical contract year.
Skip Bayless put Jalen Hurts on-the-spot days after he snubbed him over Tom Brady if the seven-time Super Bowl winner ever decided to play for the Philadelphia Eagles. In a hit piece, people inside the Eagles’ building blamed the 27-year-old for the team’s problems on offense.
Last year, the Eagles went 11-6 to qualify for the wildcard round, where they met the San Francisco 49ers. Hurts completed 20 of his 35 passes for 168 yards and threw one touchdown. The Niners secured a 23-19 victory late in the fourth quarter to knock out the Eagles.
It was a disappointing end to the season, considering the Eagles blew the chance of winning back-to-back Super Bowls. A year earlier, they defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in the final. Hurts completed 17 of his 22 passing attempts for 221 yards, threw 2 touchdowns, and also added 72 rushing yards and one score on the ground. He was named the game MVP.
Bayless believes the Super Bowl success “went to Jalen’s head.” He was already on bad terms with wide receiver AJ Brown. Brown did not live up to anyone’s imagination that he wanted to see more of the ball, and the only way that’s possible is when Hurts throws him the ball.
Brown caught 78 passes for 1003 yards (12.9 yards per catch) in 15 games. The Eagles’ offense was built around the run game led by Saquon Barkley, but it took a few steps back as other teams found ways to stop it.
Hurts failed to direct the Eagles out of the conundrum, helping the 49ers take advantage of their misery in the wildcard round. This led to the Eagles relieving Kevin Patullo of his duties as offensive coordinator. The Eagles ranked 25th in total offense, 28th in passing yards per game, and 29th in 3rd down conversions.
Many within the building also wanted the front office to blame Hurts for their failures, but they never did until ESPN published its piece.
Poor body language, not always bought in, not the most coachable, and the players notice.
A source revealed to ESPN
Bayless argued that the Eagles brass planted this article to send a message to Hurts. Unless he improves or changes his approach, they will not hesitate to explore other quarterback options.
This story to me, clearly… was planted by Eagles management. Even if you go so far as to say that it was not exactly planted, it was fueled by, it was encouraged by, it was fed by people inside the Eagles because they believe that… the Super Bowl went to Jalen’s head last year.

Jalen Hurts has reportedly received the Eagles’ message
The Ravens kicked off their voluntary camp on Monday, and one by one, all the remaining teams will hold theirs in the coming days, including the Eagles. Before the players start showing up for the training session, the Eagles warned Hurts to improve his game.

According to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the message has been heard loud and clear by the Pro Bowl signal caller.
[Jalen] knows this is the last year of his guaranteed money. He knows the cat’s out on some of his baggage. You’ve got to be able to produce. You can’t be near the bottom of the league in passing two years in a row with the amount of talent that we have. It’s not acceptable… And it’s everybody saying it — from [owner] Jeffrey [Lurie] on down. Everybody is on the same page.
Jeff McLane wrote
PHOENIX — Jeffrey Lurie has a special relationship with Jalen Hurts. He also knows it’s a critical year for the #Eagles QB.

The owner had Hurts' back at the NFL meetings. He also signs his checks and will determine if he signs another big one.

The Eagles’ voluntary workout is on April 20. OTAs will be from May 26 to 29 and June 1 to 2 and 4. The mandatory minicamp will take place on June 9 and 10.
