“Wasn’t born with it…” Skip Bayless breaks down LeBron James ‘genetics’
Skip Bayless shared a harsh take about NBA legend LeBron James on the latest episode of the Dan Le Batard Show.
LeBron James and Skip Bayless
LeBron James is arguably one of the best basketball players in the world alongside greats like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. Over the past two decades, James has been one of the most consistent players in the league, winning multiple NBA titles with different teams.
However, TV presenter Skip Bayless is not a big fan of the NBA star. In fact, according to Bayless, Jordan is a ‘better’ player than James. He also believes that James does not have the ‘clutch genes’.
Bayless has never been a big advocate of the Los Angeles Lakers star. He has always criticized him whenever he got the chance to do so. Most recently, on the Dan Le Batard show, he did the same.

Skip: "He just wasn't born with the clutch gene as I nicknamed it… I can show you time after time after time that he wasn't."
Dan: "I believe sports are meant to be celebrated… It's harder to do 2-3 hour shows around celebration than… pic.twitter.com/AGnSHbTolj
This showcases Bayless’ bias towards Jordan. However, one can well and truly argue regarding Bayless’ comments about the NBA legend, especially about how James has won games from losing positions in his career.
On the other hand, James is entering the last stage of his basketball career. He will be looking forward to ending it on a high note, with the Lakers looking good after winning their season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves this 2024-25 NBA season.
Skip Bayless once claimed Bronny James has a better ‘clutch gene’ than LeBron James
Skip Bayless is known for his unusual takes in and around the NBA. However, his takes regarding NBA legend LeBron James are even more unusual as compared to others.
Similarly, Bayless once stated on his self-titled show that LeBron James’ son Bronny James has a ‘better clutch gene’ than his father. This sent shockwaves throughout the NBA community.
Additionally, Bayless claimed that Bronny would develop into a “clutch” 3-point shooter for the Lakers. Although Bayless thinks Bronny could make a difference, he also thinks that the Lakers’ new head coach JJ Reddick will struggle to balance the former USC Trojan’s playing time with the personalities of the other players.
Bronny did not perform up to the standards during the NBA preseason for the Lakers. Despite Bayless’ take, Bronny still has a lot of room for development. Nevertheless, he has the backing of his new head coach as well as Lakers GM Rob Pelinka. It remains to be seen how Bronny James develops alongside his father throughout the 2024-25 NBA season.
