Draymond Green is often viewed as a controversial player and one of the few tough guys in modern-day basketball. The former Defensive Player of the Year is known for his on-court antics throughout his NBA career. But along with his antics, the forward is known for bringing in tenacity that has propelled the Golden State Warriors to four NBA championships in the last 10 years.

It has been a difficult 2025-26 campaign for Draymond Green and the Warriors. They lost their last game before the All-Star weekend to the San Antonio Spurs. They currently find themselves in eighth place in the Western Conference standings with a 29-26 record. With Jimmy Butler ruled out for the season, the Warriors are far from contenders this year.

While Green has already had his fair share of ejections this season, it has been a season of unexpected events for the 35-year-old. He was involved in a heated exchange with head coach Steve Kerr during a timeout, which forced him to exit the game early. And for the first time in his 13-year spell with the Warriors, Green’s name was in the rounds as the club were trying to make a push for Giannis Antetokounmpo at the trade deadline.

Recently, Green had an unexpected guest on The Draymond Green Show. It was Skip Bayless, who is one of the biggest critics of Green’s close friend, LeBron James. The 74-year-old praised Green for calling James the B-word during the 2016 NBA Finals.

Green rolled out a new segment titled Take Two, giving Bayless the chance to revisit and reassess some of his past controversial remarks. The options were ‘double down’, ‘modify with context’, or ‘apologize.’ The remark was about Green being the dirtiest player in NBA history. Bayless replied:

I double down. You have baffled me and astonished me because you battled so tenaciously that you push it right to the end and every once in a while you just go completely over the edge trying to get an edge.

On several occasions, the analyst has called Green the dirtiest player in the league’s history, and he still stands by it. And going by this season as well, there is no reason for Bayless to apologize for his statements.

Fans react to Skip Bayless doubling down on Draymond Green remark

The audience clapped and laughed after Bayless’ response. A surprised Green exclaimed, “Wow!” Fans were quick to react to Bayless’ response across social media.

Most fans agreed with Bayless and credited the analyst for doubling down in front of Green and keeping it real.

Skip Bayless calls Draymond Green a first-ballot Hall of Famer

There is no doubt that Green will go down as one of the best defenders in NBA history. He has been selected to the NBA All-Defensive team nine times and was the Defensive Player of the Year in 2017. During the live stream, Bayless praised Green for what he has achieved throughout his career.

He has averaged for his career nine points, seven rebounds and six assists and he is a first ballot Hall of Famer. That has never happened before. Nobody would those numbers would ever even sniff the basketball Hall of Fame and you are first ballot because there is so much more you do beyond that.

Green’s impact on the game has always been beyond the stats sheet. He was never gifted with much athleticism and is very limited offensively, but high basketball IQ, defensive tenacity and leadership has helped the Warriors to four NBA championships. He is the glue of the team.
