When Aaron Rodgers joined the Pittsburgh Steelers, many felt the franchise’s stability would help him have maybe one or two good years before he hangs up his cleats.

During his time with the New York Jets, it was the dysfunction surrounding the owners and the decision makers that ensured the blame was not placed on the veteran QB’s head.

Now in Pennsylvania, there was hope among fans that the 4-time league MVP would finally give them a playoff win or two. At least that was the hope when the team won 4 of its first 5 games. After that, he did have a game or two that he too wished did not happen. Then, the Steelers’ flat offense started to show its ugly side, and most analysts and fans were quick to blame the coaches.

He has a long, long history of calling out, especially his wide receivers. He did it again, how dare him yesterday, after his performance… Aaron Rodgers is a finger-pointing, blame-deflecting diva of the highest order. And he did again yesterday… If I am one of those WRs, I would say screw you, brother.

The 73-year-old was livid while talking about Rodgers’ recent comments about Steelers receivers. Skip Bayless believes this was history repeating itself, as the quarterback has a long history of alienating his wideouts.

He admits that the team had serious problems to fix in their loss to the Buffalo Bills. But Aaron Rodgers cannot escape the fact that he finished with a disastrously low 6.2 QBR.

Marcus Spears points fingers at Aaron Rodgers

Skip Bayless has a history of criticizing Aaron Rodgers. Therefore, the QB’s fans might give him a pass, as they have heard enough over the years. But the longtime analyst was not alone, with ESPN’s Marcus Spears joining in.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are exactly where they deserve to be. This was a team with no plan after Ben Roethlisberger… The team cannot go in any direction until you get the most important position right.

Marcus Spears said on NFL Live

The former defensive tackle believes the Pittsburgh Steelers have not done a good job bringing in a good player to man their most critical position. In the last decade, they have generally leaned on their defense.

Now, as the defense has started to show signs of struggling, the team’s problems are being laid bare. Had the QB position been taken care of, maybe they would not be in this situation.

Spears believes the organization was wrong to hand its offense over to a 41-year-old quarterback in Aaron Rodgers, and hope he would lead them to the promised land.

Essentially, the ESPN analyst was trying to suggest that Rodgers is not who the Steelers think he once was. Instead, they have an aging, washed signal caller who does not have it in him to go the extra mile.

Aaron Rodgers’ inability to lead the offense summed up in one statistic

When Marcus Spears was ranting on NFL Live, the show’s cast did seem to agree once he put the facts in place. Soon, one colleague brought up a statistic that proves Aaron Rodgers has not had a meaningful impact.

No defense in the NFL has played more snaps than Pittsburgh’s (820).
No offense in the NFL has played fewer snaps than Pittsburgh’s (667).
“Outplayed” by 153.

The former quarterback used ESPN’s analytics to come up with these numbers to show that the Steelers’ defense is still shouldering the burden of leading the team to wins. That was not the idea when the top brass brought in Aaron Rodgers.
