The New England Patriots are back on the Super Bowl stage. The Patriots edged out the second-best defense in the league in the AFC Conference game on Sunday (January 25), advancing to their first Super Bowl in the post-Tom Brady era.
Amid their historic moment, controversial sports personality Skip Bayless voiced a bold gossip with regards to Brady and Drake Maye, the Patriots’ current starter. As per Bayless, Brady is not a fan of their win against the Denver Broncos and first Super Bowl appearance since he left for Tampa Bay.
I don’t think Tom Brady loves this. I don’t think Brady’s going to love it for his legacy that some second-year starter as he was, flipped the switch right back and got the Patriots right back to the Super Bowl. I think it’ll in Tom’s eyes diminish his legacy a little bit.

Bayless has been a staunch defender of Brady during his playing times, but he has since changed his tune. The 74-year-old has questioned Brady’s integrity, pointing out his role in the Las Vegas Raiders as a minority owner while also being a journalist on Fox. In his string of attacks during the start of the season, Bayless named Brady, “Captain Obvious” and even called him “vanilla.”
In another Skip Bayless Show episode, he called Brady pathetic and lame. He criticized the dual roles played by Brady and even pointed to an advertisement he did for Pizza Hut.
Onto the recent controversy, this is not the first time Bayless has accused Brady in regards to a new face in the league. He had pointed fingers at the seven-time champion and accused that he played a role in Shedeur Sanders’ draft slide last year.
Drake Maye has one-upped Tom Brady with the AFC Championship win
The New England Patriots had been written off throughout the season, citing their weak schedule. The postseason completely shifted the narrative around the team. Drake Maye and his team overcame the fifth-best defense in the league in the wild card, the best in the divisional, and the second-best in the league on Sunday.

As a second-year quarterback, Drake Maye has done what Tom Brady did. Brady came through, took the Patriots to their first Super Bowl in his second season on the field. Tony Romo echoed the statement during the broadcast and hinted at the possibility of Maye signaling the beginning of a new dynasty in Boston.
Second year QB back in the Super Bowl, I don’t think we’ve ever seen that, oh wait … we did when Tom Brady was there. I’m not gonna say it’s the start of a dynasty, but I will say it’s been an unbelievable ride for them.

Drake Maye has one-upped Brady in a couple of ways. He will become the second-youngest quarterback to start the Super Bowl at the age of 23 years, 162 days old. Dan Marino is the youngest-ever at 23 years, 127 days old, when he led the Miami Dolphins into Super Bowl XIX. Maye will surpass Ben Roethlisberger when he starts against the Seattle Seahawks. Tom Brady and a bunch of six other quarterbacks, including Brock Purdy, were all 24 when they started in a national championship.
Furthermore, Maye won where Brady couldn’t, the Empower Field at Mile High. The Patriots have always failed to find their footing against the Broncos. Brady has lost thrice against the Broncos at their own ground. And Maye did all that even with one of the worst ratings of his professional career when playing a full contest.
