Skip Bayless RAGES as Caitlin Clark could not lead Fever to win over Lynx
Caitlin Clark and Indiana Fever losing to Minnesota Lynx has Skip Bayless losing it, especially with WNBA playoffs approaching.
WNBA and Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark not shooting enough has Skip Bayless raging
Caitlin Clark and her Indiana Fever defeated two championship contenders in their last outings. They also had five days of rest before facing the Minnesota Lynx today. Lynx were playing the second of their back-to-back games. The Lynx were also exhausted after defeating back-to-back WNBA champions Las Vegas Aces twice in three days. To have all that and still lose was too much for Skip Bayless to take.
He took to his official X account to talk about the game. In particular, the absence of scoring from leading rookie superstar Caitlin Clark in the second half. He was obviously frustrated by how the rookie left her shooting boots in the locker room in the second half. It was a fair criticism from the former Undisputed host.
There's one thing I don't understand about Caitlin Clark. She took 13 shots in the first half, and the Fever were down 1 at halftime. She took 5 shots in the second half, and the Fever lost by 10, she only took 1 shot in the 4th quarter. C'mon Caitlin, you are the leading scorer in the history of college basketball, men's or women's. You're it. Caitlin, just shoot it.Skip Bayless via X
The second part of it is true as Caitlin Clark hasn’t yet taken over an entire game the way she did in college. Maybe it is the way her Indiana Fever’s offense is designed or how head coach Christie Sides makes changes. Whatever it is, Skip Bayless thinks Clark needs to shoot more.
Her offense has improved off late. But even then, it has yet to reach the heights when 30+ points was a routine exercise for her. Maybe the Fever needs more of her college offense with the crucial games coming up. Nevertheless, one can expect Clark to improve further down the line.
Caitlin Clark and Fever have two crucial coming up
The Indiana Fever wants to cement their playoff hopes. Today’s loss actually helped the Minnesota Lynx and the Connecticut Sun confirm their playoff spots. Moving on to the next two games, they have to figure out the reasons for today’s loss and use them to win. First up is the Atlanta Dream, the hottest team in the WNBA right now.
Then comes the superstar-laden Connecticut Sun, who are a tough defensive unit who have been a thorn in the Fever’s side. A loss to both of them will impact the overall standings at the end of the season. That is even though the next three games are winnable. Now, as the WNBA playoffs approach, every game matters.
Christie Sides will have to figure out how to unlock more from her team, especially when a few of her players struggle to score with their usual efficiency. Maybe listen to Skip Bayless and design schemes to get Caitlin Clark into scoring situations.
