Heading into the last week of his rookie campaign, Shedeur Sanders knew deep down that he might not start another game next season for the Cleveland Browns. Even his future with the franchise was up in the air, as any changes to their vision could see them cut the fifth-round pick in favor of other, more experienced backups.

With Deshaun Watson seemingly in line to return as the starter next season, many felt Sanders’ time was coming to a close. In fact, the 23-year-old’s play in almost the entire game was further evidence for his naysayers that he is not good enough to be a starter.

The NFL tried to bury Shedeur Sanders… Maybe there is a God above. He just capped off his rookie season for the Cleveland Browns by beating Aaron Rodgers straight, then going to Cincinnati, beating Joe Burrow with an outrageously clutch 64-yard ten-play drive for the walk-off field goal to win it.

The 74-year-old was talking about how Shedeur Sanders led his team to a position to kick the field goal and win the game against the Cincinnati Bengals late in the fourth quarter.

Skip Bayless then mentioned that Pro Football Focus had rated the Browns’ pass protection and receivers as dead last in the league over the seven games Shedeur Sanders played.

Despite that, the Colorado Buffaloes star has led them to a 3-4 record, which the analyst believes was a slap in the face of everyone who tried to undermine, troll, and belittle Deion Sanders‘ son.

Kevin Stefanski praises Shedeur Sanders’ game-winning drive

Before that game-winning drive, social media was buzzing with questions about whether Shedeur Sanders was fit for the NFL. Then, after 1:30 minutes of brilliance, flipped the script, and his trolls went quiet.

After the game, reporters waited for head coach Kevin Stefanski and then asked him what his conversation was with his quarterback, which helped the latter get his head back in the game.

I told him at halftime that’s why it’s a 60 min FB game. We were not perfect on offense by any stretch of the imagination, but came through when we had to come through… Just a bunch of fighters on that team.

For someone who does not know whether he will remain as the head coach of this team, the 43-year-old subtly gave praise to his signal caller and the rest of the team for keeping their focus to win the game.

This marked the Browns’ second-straight win after defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 17. With his job security at stake, Kevin Stefanski might be hoping the franchise ownership looks at what he has done with a fifth-round pick.

Shedeur Sanders opens up about his growing relationship with Kevin Stefanski

As Kevin Stefanski moves on to the Cleveland Browns’ exit meetings, all eyes and ears will be on what his players say about him. When it was Shedeur Sanders‘ turn, the rookie said:

He’s been real tough, real tough. It’s good, and I think I grew and learned a lot from him. This week, we had a conversation just about things in general, and I feel like we grew to understand each other.

Shedeur Sanders told reporters

The Colorado star’s reply indicates that his relationship with his head coach has grown considerably since the days when Stefanski seemingly did not want Sanders as his starting signal caller.

The Browns finished with a 5-12 record, which means they will select sixth in the draft, high enough to draft another impactful rookie. The 2026 offseason will reveal whether that rookie gets to play with Stefanski and/or Sanders in the building.
