Angel Reese stirred up quite the pot when she sat down for an interview with the Chicago Tribune. Observing and comparing how this season has gone for her, the star forward did not hold back.

While doing so, she ended up criticizing the front office, head coach, and, most importantly, her teammates. In the instance of the top brass, she demanded they bring in better players to surround her.

At the same time, she mentioned that she would prefer if first-year head coach Tyler Marsh would coach the team harder. Lastly, she seemingly claimed that the current team was not good enough to help her win.

To sum it up, Reese then mentioned that if the team does not help her win, she would do what was best for her. If that means she should leave to join another organization, she would do so.

These comments caused a furor, and her teammates were the first to ask for a meeting. Angel Reese later confirmed that she had apologized to them. But that did not seem to be enough for the franchise.

Because of the statements detrimental to the team made by Angel Reese during league-mandated media, she will not play in the first half of the game on September 7th against the Las Vegas Aces. This matter has been handled and resolved internally, and we are moving forward as a team.

The Chicago Sky issued a statement

On the face of it, it seems the Chicago Sky decided to reprimand their star player for her comments that portrayed the entire organization in a negative light. This means, along with her one-game suspension after picking up her 8th technical foul, the forward will miss the opening half of their next game.

Fans lose their minds after Sky suspends Angel Reese for 1/2 a game

The problem with this suspension is that Angel Reese would only miss the first half of their game against the Las Vegas Aces. It also means that she would return to play in the second half.

Fans could not wrap their heads around this suspension, as it seems they did not think this through. They believe that if they had to suspend her, they might as well have done it for the whole game.

Suspending her for half the game will throw her team into jeopardy. They will have to play the first half without their best defender, rebounder, and on occasion scorer. Then adjust in the second half with her on the court.

Fans feel the Chicago Sky are continuously embarrassing themselves with such decisions, and should have made it clear if they were truly affected by her comments. Check out examples of those reactions below.

The Sky might have had another logic when suspending Angel Reese for half a game. They might have thought that had she been suspended for the entire game, she could just stay at home and avoid the embarrassment.

Instead, if she is forced to face the world for half a game, this could make her look bad, just like how she tried to throw the organization, her coach, and her teammates under the bus.

Sky lost embarrassingly to the Fever without Angel Reese in the lineup

Angel Reese picked up her 8th technical foul in their win against the Connecticut Sun. Even though the Sky tried to rescind that foul, the league did not change its opinion.

This meant she would automatically be suspended for their away game against the Indiana Fever. When her team lined up for their final game of their series against the Fever, rookie Maddy Westbeld was named as the starter.

That retooled lineup initially lasted for just 6 minutes, and they reverted to players with whom the starters are used to playing. Those changes, however, were not enough as the injury-depleted home team dominated early and never looked back to win the game 97-77.
