Basketball fans from all over the world wait for one moment in particular. That is the much-anticipated All-Star Weekend. During this week, players from all over the league come together to play on the same team and showcase their skills and gameplay in front of the fans. The WNBA organized its All-Star weekend this week.

Notably, many moments get covered, some bad and some good, during this period. Amazingly, Skylar Diggins went through the emotions, from witnessing one of her worst days to her best moments in basketball ever, which came during this WNBA All-Star Weekend.

Just a day ago, Diggins witnessed one of the lowest moments of her career when she saw a rookie like Sonia Citron edging her in the three-point skill contest that was eventually won by the New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu, earning almost $62,000 in prize money. However, that was not all for Diggins, who claimed that she was pi**ed and wanted to leave with something during the All-Star weekend.

Diggins surely stuck to her words as the much-anticipated All-Star game arrived on Saturday in Indianapolis. And she delivered in some style. After dishing out an All-Star game milestone 15 assists and achieving the first-ever triple-double(11 points, 15 assists, 11 rebounds) in the history of the All-Star Game, Diggins made amends on Saturday.

The 13-year WNBA veteran and guard with the Seattle Storm, however, did not win MVP of the All-Star Game. Napheesa Collier, the current WNBA MVP front-runner, set an ASG record of 36 points and was voted the All-Star Game MVP.

One may certainly argue that Diggins should have won MVP instead of Collier, but that’s a topic for another day. After all, the captain of the team not only set a record for the most points scored in a WNBA All-Star Game, but she also put together a team that defeated Team Clark 151-131.

Skylar Diggins made her views clear on her inclusion in the WNBA All-Star game

The Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis witnessed the WNBA’s biggest stars arrive in style during the All-Star weekend. Notably, the Seattle Storm star Skylar Diggins also arrived in style as she was dressed in an all-black, beautiful top with sparkles all over, looking as focused as ever. That said, Diggins spoke about her inclusion in the event as she was selected as a reserve pick in Team Collier( led by Napheesa Collier).

It means a lot to me to experience it with the people I’m getting to experience it with. It means a lot to me for my kids to be able to see me play this year. For it to come full circle and just to be playing at that level means a lot.

Despite being in her seventh All-Star game, Diggins remains one of the top players in the WNBA. She showcased her value on Saturday despite being picked as a reserve, creating WNBA history in the process for being the first player to record a triple-double in the game (as mentioned above). Surely, the Storm star has done her family proud.

Skylar Diggins made an interesting case regarding managing parenthood and basketball at the same time

Being a parent is never easy, no matter what the condition is. There is always a sense of responsibility on your shoulders every time. And if you are an athlete who is constantly on the road, then it gets worse. Notably, WNBA star Skylar Diggins touched upon this topic lately. Sharing how tough it is to manage parenthood and basketball at the same time.

She did admit that she sought help at one point.

I think with postpartum, as a woman that feels like, ‘I got it. I got it. I don’t need help. I’m good.’ Just having to succumb to asking for help, and being okay with that. And also understanding like, ‘Okay you’re not a cyborg. Maybe you need some help and some rest and a break and recovery. Prioritizing yourself.

It’s great to hear someone, particularly Diggins, who is so well-known, acknowledge honestly that the path is difficult. We are taught to be thankful for what we have far too frequently. Diggins is coming out and opening up on her journey would ease much pressure on the women following her journey and on the moms, who may be going through the same difficulties, out there watching her.
