Indian Women’s cricket team star, Smriti Mandhana, has asked the fans to stop comparing her with Virat Kohli. Kohli is a legend of the game who has dominated world cricket for over a decade. He is surely one of the greatest batters to ever play the game.

On the other hand, Mandhana has been a prolific batter for her team in women’s cricket. Both of them wear the jersey number 18 and also play for RCB. This has prompted fans to compare her with Kohli.

Virat Kohli is a great player. What he has achieved for Indian cricket is amazing. Don't compare me with him just because I'm wearing a No. 18 jersey, I don't like such comparisons.
Smriti Mandhana said in an episode of Sustainable Tea With Shreya

Both these players have dominated the batting charts for their respective teams and also for RCB. They have the ability to win games with just their bats, are aggressive and have hunger to score runs and are quite similar in their style.

Smiriti Mandhana called Virat Kohli the legend after winning the WPL 2024

Mandhana also addressed the comparisons with Kohli after the RCB Women’s team won the WPL 2024. She stated that Kohli is already a legend of the game and winning the IPL depends on a bit of luck. So she expressed hope that the women’s team winning the WPL will trigger the luck for the men’s side.

Mandhana was last seen in the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 final where her team lost the game against the Sri Lankan team. Meanwhile, Kohli won The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and announced his retirement from T20I cricket. He was then seen in the ODI series against Sri Lanka under new head coach, Gautam Gambhir.

The Indian side lost the series against Sri Lanka by a margin of 2-0. Kohli had a series to forget as he consistently got out to the spinners without scoring much. He has, meanwhile, left for London to spend time with his family and will be seen in the Test series against Bangladesh at home. Kohli is yet to win an IPL title and has been part of the RCB side since 2008. This is the only trophy that is left for him to win.
