Team USA star Joel Embiid stole the spotlight on Tuesday for his brilliant performance during the quarter-finals against Team Brazil at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Notably, world-famous musician and rapper, Snoop Dogg and WNBA superstar A’ja Wilson attended this quarter-finals matchup to support their country-mates at the decorated event.
Both the celebrities were in awe of Embiid’s top-notch performance against Team Brazil. He capped a breathtaking display during the knockout stages, finishing with 14 points, seven rebounds, and scoring the three 3-pointers attempts he made.
It’s important to note that Embiid was previously criticized for his past performances for Team USA during the group stages, and this recent performance vs Team Brazil showcased Embiid’s value for his nation.
On the other hand, Team USA advanced to the semifinals, which means they will play Serbia on Thursday, after crushing Brazil 122-87. In the 35-point victory that opened the knockout phase, every member of Team USA scored, with Devin Booker leading the squad with 18 points. LeBron James finished with 12 points and nine assists, just one shy of a triple-double.
Additionally, Kevin Durant created history. With a bucket in the third quarter, the Phoenix Suns star became the highest-scoring individual in Team USA basketball history at the Olympics, surpassing Lisa Leslie. He finished with 11 points. With 488 points, Leslie had previously held the record (men’s or women’s).

With 20.3 points per game, the former two-time WNBA MVP and Breanna Stewart are tied for first place on Team USA’s scoring chart. Team USA has stabilized thanks to her consistent 9.7 rebounds per game in the paint.
