“We really depend on her…” Snoop Dogg fully trust Jeanie Buss to lead $6.4 billion worth Lakers back to glory days

Snoop Dogg and Jeanie Buss

Snoop Dogg made a guest appearance on Stephen A. Smith’s show where he said that he believes the Lakers’ owner Jeanie Buss can turn the team’s fortunes around in the LeBron James era. Despite winning an NBA title in James’ second season, the team has struggled to find consistent success, with two seasons missing the playoffs, two first-round exits, and a conference finals finish.

The Los Angeles Lakers have also had to qualify for the playoffs via the play-in tournament thrice since 2021, leading to frustration among fans who have blamed Jeanie Buss for the team’s dysfunction. However, Snoop Dogg disagrees, trusting Buss to make decisions that benefit the organization.

I trust in Jeanie. I know she does what's best for the organization... We're used to winning championships. We're not used to being knocked out in the first round, barely getting in the playoffs. It's a certain, you know, level of attention and detail that we have when it comes to Lakers and as a fan she knows that as fans we really depend on her and them to make the right moves.

Snoop Dogg went further to share his thoughts on Darvin Ham’s firing, saying it wasn’t Ham’s fault but acknowledged the need for change. He emphasized the Lakers’ legacy of winning championships and the need for better results.

Darvin Ham’s firing is seen as a step in the right direction, as he wasn’t the right fit to lead the team despite achieving some successes like winning the inaugural NBA In-Season Tournament. As a young coach, Ham made in-game mistakes and struggled with rotations, ultimately losing the locker room.

NBA analyst calls out Jeanie Buss for disrespecting Ty Lue

NBA analyst Jason Timpf on popular social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) revisited the LA Lakers’ past negotiations with Ty Lue, who is now the LA Clippers’ head coach, in light of rumors that the Lakers are interested in hiring him again. In 2019, the Lakers “lowballed” Lue with a three-year $18 million deal and insisted on hiring his staff, leading Lue to call out the team for not treating him “fairly”.

This is so embarrassing considering Lue would be the coach if Jeanie Buss didn’t openly disrespect him by lowballing him in the negotiation 4 years ago.

Furthermore, Timpf now finds it embarrassing that the Lakers are considering hiring Lue, given how they disrespected him in the past. He believes that Lue would have been an excellent fit for the Lakers, given his proven record with LeBron James and his ability to manage a star-studded locker room.

The Lakers’ failure to hire Lue in 2019 led to a series of coaching changes, including Frank Vogel and Darvin Ham, neither of whom achieved long-term success. Timpf however suggested that the Lakers’ decision-makers, including Jeanie Buss, mishandled the situation with Lue and are now facing the consequences.
