Solskjaer ‘looks forward’ to working with this youngster next season
Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that he is looking forward to working with Diogo Dalot in the next season. The 21-year-old full-back is currently on loan at AC Milan this season and will face Manchester United in the Europa league on Thursday.
Diogo Dalot made the move from Portugal to England under Jose Mourinho in 2018 but never became a starter under both Mourinho and later Solskjaer. The following season saw the arrival of Wan-Bissaka and Solksjaer made it clear that Dalot needed to improve in order to have a future at United.
Solskjaer has been impressed with the youngster this season
Dalot has had an excellent loan spell at Milan this season and has made 23 appearances for Milan so far, scoring two goals. In contrast to this he only made 35 appearances during his 2 year stay at United. Dalot has started 17 of those 23 games, proving an important figure as Milan have mounted challenges for the Serie A title as well as the Europa League.
“The plan was always for Diogo this season… well, the main thing for Diogo was to be fit,” Solskjaer is quoted by the Manchester Evening News.
“He never managed to be fit for a long spell when he was here because of injuries and now he’s kept fit all season and been available for them. He’s playing at a big club, big expectations, great history of the club. It’s been a good year for him.
“So, of course, I’ve been very pleased with his development this season, he’s our player and I’m looking forward to having him back.”
