Solskjaer unhappy as United’s “perfect night” against Granada ruined by suspensions

Manchester United players celebrate against Granada
Manchester United emerged 2-0 winners against Spanish opponents Granada in the first leg of the quarter final of the Europa League. A first half goal from Marcus Rashford and a last minute penalty goal from Bruno Fernandes ended a good night’s work for Ole Gunnar’s men.
However, the coach admitted it was not a “perfect night” as Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay were all booked and will miss next week’s return game at Old Trafford through suspension.
Maguire, Shaw and Mctominay will all miss United’s return leg against Granada next week due to suspensions
The manager said: “It was not a perfect night. We got three yellow cards and three suspensions [but] 2-0 is very good result. We know how difficult it is to come to Spain.
It’s created a good starting point for next week’s game – then we’ve got to play well to get a result. We want to win every game – football catches you so quickly if you rest. We can’t have any other approach. It’s still a young team, a learning team, and we have to improve all the time.”
Solskjaer also praised United’s goal scorers, Bruno and Rashford for the work they have put in so far in United’s season.
“They [Rashford and Fernandes] have been exceptional, so important for us,” added Solskjaer. “It was a very good run by Rashford, takes the ball fantastically. Bruno is so confident on penalties even though the keeper almost saved it.”
“We knew it would be a tough game physically and we had to match that. We fought to the end and got that penalty.
“I’m really happy. We have to go into next week with the same attitude. Sunday is a massive game for us. We’ve got to get back, recover, get ready for that.”
Manchester United are firm favourites to progress to the semi-finals of the Europa League after their 2-0 win at Spain. Their next match is against Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday before they take on Granada in the returning leg on 16th April 12.30 A.M. IST.
