Brandon Moreno put on an unbelievable display against Deiveson Figueiredo in the main event of UFC 256, in what many call as the fight of the year. The Mexican was unfortunate to come out of the fight earning just a majority draw.
However, there was more the Mexican flyweight revealed after the match – a popped shoulder, a badly injured right eye and what not! Now, that is a warrior there!
Speaking to ESPN+, in their post-fight show, Moreno said that he felt too much pain all over his body, but was happy at the same time, as he felt that he did his nation proud. He sure did! The Mexican also stated that he wanted a rematch with Deiveson.
“I don’t think it’s broken, but I threw too many jabs” – Brandon Moreno
Brandon Moreno was quoted as saying, “I don’t think it’s broken, but I threw too many jabs, and I felt something in my shoulder. After that, I felt amazing. I feel really good, to be honest. [I threw the jab very hard], and something popped in my shoulder. But I think it’s fine.” [via MMA Fighting]
He further added, “To be honest, I feel too much pain in all my body. But at the same time, I feel so happy. I wanted to bring that happiness to my country and my family. But it is what it is. I’m so happy to take this opportunity, and I’m ready to be with my family and kids.” [via MMA Fighting]
Speaking about the rematch, Moreno said, “We need a rematch, for me, for the fans, for Figueiredo, for everybody. For the sport, of course.”
