Los Angeles Sparks superstar Cameron Brink

Cameron Brink is gearing up for her second WNBA season. After a flurry of trades, her Los Angeles Sparks are now in the conversation to reach the playoffs. But to get to that goal, they must first practice enough to gel as a group.

Before Brink ended her rookie season with an injury, she was starting every game. But her fellow rookie Rickea Jackson was not as then head coach Curt Miller was still experimenting with their overall fit. After Brink went down, Jackson started getting more minutes.

Towards the end of the season, it became evident that Jackson is as much a core part of their future as Brink was. Miller was gone, and the organization was looking at the draft to push the team forward. But then, they received an opportunity to trade for superstar Kelsey Plum and they took it.

With a few players moving out, this Sparks team looks different. Along with a new head coach, they will have to learn new schemes and plans before they start their season. That also means they need practice players to help them.

I guess my confession is I’m really icked out by the potential new practice players. All the comments are like, let Cameron Brink back me down. And now I’m just like, preferably they’re gay. Who are we trusting coming into this gym? I’m not boxing anyone out.

To bring the best out of women’s basketball players, teams prefer signing male practice players. After the Sparks announced they were holding tryouts, those posts spread on social media like wildfire. No wonder a soon to be married Brink did not appreciate the ‘thirst’ comments on those posts.

Sparks ‘baddies’ are viral on social media

A legion of new fans have started following the WNBA after Caitlin Clark came in. Angel Reese and Cameron Brink were also part of that draft class. Together and along with other rookies, they have been at the forefront of this transformation that has seen the league grow faster than any brand in the country.

With all those eyeballs on the sport, their off-court endeavors also grab attention. Brink and Reese have elevated fashion in the sport. Even though other veterans have been doing that for a while, these rookies amped up the attention.

As the 2024 season progressed, it became evident that the Los Angeles Sparks were a team stacked with beautiful women who are also great athletes. The term ‘baddies’ started circulating as Rickea Jackson, Dearica Hamby and Rae Burrell joined Brink in showing off their fashion senses.

Now as Kelsey Plum comes into the frame, next season’s tunnel walks will be the talk of the WNBA. This is what led to those posts going viral with more than 40 million views to date. Next season expect this group to sell out Crypo.com Arena.

Cameron Brink hopes 2025 will be better than 2024

Early in 2024, Cameron Brink knew she was going places after a stellar time at Stanford University. She was hoping to make waves in her rookie WNBA season and was poised to become the defensive player of the year if she stayed course.

The ACL tear though, cut her season short while also destroying her hopes of playing in the Paris Olympics. But she continued to stay her course and worked with trainers to recover properly. She decided not to take part in the debut Unrivaled League season as she was still in recovery mode.

She did take part in drills and showed she is recovering well. But the 23-year-old did not want to take any risks as she sat on the sidelines. She knows a full recovery is more important to her career as a basketball player than just rushing back.

This upcoming season, Brink will be a part of a team that has all the tools to make a run for the playoffs. Her own development will be crucial as she has to uplift her game to take on the best of the best. The fate of the 2025 Los Angeles Sparks’ season will depend on her play.
