Sophie Cunningham at Center of Publisher Bidding War for Tell‑All Book
Sophie Cunningham currently has 3.7 million followers on Instagram, which is 200K fewer than superstar teammate Caitlin Clark.

Anyone who has followed Sophie Cunningham ever since she came into the WNBA would see that her move to the Indiana Fever brought her to the spotlight far more than anything she did before.
The guard first played for the Phoenix Mercury’s veteran-laden team and was a solid contributor off the bench. She got into a fair share of scuffles during her time in Arizona. They did draw attention, but mostly among those who followed the league.
Those videos of her clashing with top athletes only rose in popularity after she joined the Fever. Now, the team’s legion of fans, or rather those of superstar Caitlin Clark, wanted to know what her teammates were like.
That inquisitiveness reached its peak when Cunningham manhandled Jacy Sheldon as a way of standing up for Clark. Overnight, her Instagram following rose by a million.
Standing up again for her friend and teammate this season saw those numbers rise again. For someone who had less than half a million followers, was now surging towards four million.
If she continues on this trend, the 29-year-old will soon surpass her more popular teammate, Caitlin Clark. Generally, athletes take advantage of such sudden growth, which is exactly what the Missouri native is doing currently.
Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham is shopping a book, publishing sources exclusively tell Page Six Hollywood. The 6-foot-1 guard — who has 3.7 million followers on Instagram — could find herself at the center of a bidding war, we hear, with the timely tome.

This means that Sophie Cunningham is trying to take advantage of the fact that she is at the center of the current coverage surrounding the WNBA. If she can get a book out, then it will be her side of the story.
The WNBA’s current situation started with Sophie Cunningham
Sophie Cunningham wants to tell her side of the story because the current discourse surrounding the WNBA started with her. She gave an interview to ESPN in February, but the article came out last month.

In that exclusive feature, Hallie Grossman detailed a lot about the Fever star and how she came to this point where she has more endorsement deals than some superstars.
But the ESPN staff writer held on to the article long enough to capture Cunningham taunting DeWanna Bonner for squaring up to Caitlin Clark. Then, when the article was published, it created a new storm the league was not prepared for.
They had one player, and a pretty famous one, actively voicing her opposition to trans athletes playing in women’s sports. This caught the attention of conservative groups, most of whom followed Cunningham’s growth. They added their twist in the mix, and mainstream media followed by interviewing players and coaches. Clark deflected such a question, but others defended trans athletes and even welcomed them into the WNBA.
Now, after two former NBA players declared their interest in getting drafted to the women’s league, all hell broke loose. But everything started with Sophie Cunningham’s statement that she wants to protect women’s sports. Maybe that is what she wants to detail in her upcoming book.
Sophie Cunningham’s team has shielded itself from outside noise
Some would believe that Sophie Cunningham is the root cause of this mess the WNBA is in, and that she has brought in a needless distraction. While the league has to sort out this situation, many wondered how the Indiana Fever players are coping with this distraction.
There are a lot of folks out there who want to divide us. There are a lot of folks out there who want to create more challenges for us. In our locker room, we do a really good job of keeping that outside… and pulling from one another.

White believes that her players have done a good job speaking up when asked so far. At the same time, they are trying to keep their true feelings within the locker room. Only then can they keep their focus on basketball.
