The second T20I between South Africa and Pakistan saw the hosts return to winning ways without a their big guns. In the absence of the senior pros the youngsters rose to the occasion to prove their worth. One of the young guns who hogged the limelight was young speedster Sisanda Magala.

Playing only his second international game, Magala didn’t have a great start to the game. Coming into the attack in the 12th over, Magala conceded 18 runs in an over which lasted 12 balls. The young quick bowled three consecutive no balls in the over along with three wide deliveries which saw his over get stretched to double of its length.

Magala burst into the international scene on the back of strong performances in this year’s One Day Cup and T20 Challenge. He didn’t disappoint in the second T20I as he bounced back strong following the disastrous over to help the hosts finish strongly in the death.

“He is probably the best death bowler and white-ball T20 bowler in the country,” George Linde

Following the horrible first over, Magala was sent to the outfield for four overs. But the over in no way ha dented the youngsters confidence as he went to his skipper Henrich Klaasen to beg for another over. “He begged me for another over. He said, ‘I’m your guy today’ and he proved it,” said Klaasen.

As promised, Magala proved to be Klaasen’s guy the other night. The 30-year-old found his rhythm and the dangerous Pakistan captain Babar Azam, who was bowled for 50, became his first international wicket. Magala’s next three overs, including two at the death, saw him only concede 14 runs and claim his first in international cricket.

He just showed his character, I do believe and I think a lot of guys believe that he is probably the best death bowler and white-ball T20 bowler in the country,” Man of the Match George Linde told reporters on Monday. “We weren’t too worried after the first over as we knew what was going to come next. He knew what he had to do and he corrected it.
