FA Cup: Southampton vs Coventry Player Ratings as the Saints win 2 – 1

Southampton vs Coventry: Southampton squared off against Coventry at the St. Mary’s stadium in the ongoing edition of the Fa Cup

Southampton sealed their place in the 5th round of the FA Cup with a 2-1 win over Coventry. The Championship side opened the scoring via a brilliant one-two from Gyokeres and Sheaf. However, it was the depth from the Southampton bench which rescued the game for the home side.

A brilliant strike from Stuart Armstrong and the extra-time winner from Walker-Pieters proved to be enough for the Saints.

Let’s take a look at the player ratings for Southampton vs Coventry match:-

Ward Prowse (6/10): one of his poorer games of the season.

Small (6/10): Not quite the first-team debut Small would’ve been looking for. Was hooked off at half-time.

Adam Armstrong (3/10): Poor outing from Adam Armstrong. He was another one hooked off by Hasenhuttle at halftime.

Shane Long (0/10): Surprised that Long survived for the entirety of the match. Was ineffective in pretty much every aspect.

Redmond (6/10): Came on early in the first half. Had his moments but overall very underwhelming.

Stuart Armstrong (8/10): Scored an absolute peach of a strike to bring Southampton level. The goal was one for the ages.

Maatsen (7/10): Came close to scoring twice in the first half. Worked his socks off throughout the game.
