Let’s take a look at the player ratings for Southampton vs West Ham match:-
Southampton vs West Ham Player Ratings:
Southampton
Willy Caballero (6.6/10): Showed poor handling during the corner and that error led to the Antonio’s goal. Made a great save to deny Dawson’s header.
Walker-Peters (6.8/10): Walker-Peters got the assist for Perraud’s goal but had a lacklustre game otherwise and was unable to get forward productively.
Yan Valery (6.9/10): Looked shaky in defence in the beginning and gave the ball away cheaply at times but got into the game in the second half and did well to prevent West Ham attacks.
Jack Stephens (7.5/10): Was solid at the back and did well to hold up Bowen and Antonio.
Romain Perraud(7.5/10): Scored a screamer from outside the box to make it 1-0. Saw a lot of the ball but his positioning was poor and let Ben Johnson exploit that.
Will Smallbone(7.2/10): Smallbone did well to get into promising positions and created chances for the two forwards upfront.
James Ward-Prowse (7.4/10): Ward-Prowse converted the penalty flawlessly. He picked up the ball constantly in midfield and tried to progress it forward.
Ibrahima Diallo (6.5/10): Could not provide that stability Romeu usually does in midfield.
Moussa Djenepo (6.8/10): Djenepo tried to make things happen and was constantly getting on the ball in the first half but was subbed off at half-time.
Shane Long (6.4/10): Long did not receive the ball in positions to take up a shot and was quite upfront.
Adam Armstrong (6.5/10): Looked uncomfortable on the ball at times and his finishing was not up to the mark.
Substitutions:
Stuart Armstrong(6.8/10): Came on in the second half and did well and made some creative passes.
Armando Broja (8.3/10): Came on after the break and did well to win the penalty for his side. Did brilliantly to find space and score the third goal.
Nathon Redmond(6.5/10): Almost got a goal with a brilliant strike but was denied by Areola.
Livramento(6/10): Was constantly caught out after coming on and could not win any duels.
Oriol Romeu(NA)
West Ham
Alphonse Areola (6.3/10): Arguably could not have done much for both goals. Perraud’s strike was right in the top corner and the penalty was smashed in. Made a great save from Redmond’s strike.
Craig Dawson (5.8/10): Dawson made a poor challenge on Broja and conceded a penalty. Almost redeemed himself but was denied the equaliser by Caballero.
Kurt Zouma (6.5/10): Was a menace from corners but he was caught out by long balls.
Issa Diop (6.8/10): Had a decent game in defence and got the assist for the Antonio goal.
Ben Johnson (6.4/10): Got in some good positions upfield on the right-hand side but his decision making was questionable at times.
Tomas Soucek (7/10): Soucek had a good 50 minutes in midfield but was subbed off after an injury.
Declan Rice (7.1/10): Rice looked composed and controlled in midfield. He made some dangerous runs from midfield to the final third.
Pablo Fornals (6.3/10): Fornals could not dribble past Southampton as usual and lost possession a lot.
Manuel Lanzini(6.7/10): Lanizini overhit his through balls and frustrated his teammates at times but he constantly got the ball and tried to find the decisive pass.
Jarrod Bowen (6.5/10): Bowen put in some teasing crosses from corners. His form in front of the goal today was not the best.
Michail Antonio (8/10): Antonio used his strength very well upfront. He drifted to the wide areas at times to help his side. Was at the right place to tap it in for his goal.
Substitutions:
Said Benrahma(6.4/10): Came on but could not impose himself on the game as much.
Nikola Vlasic(6.2/10): Saw very little of the ball after coming on
