The number one Featherweight UFC contender Max Holloway is all set to face Calvin Kattar in January 2021. ‘Blessed’ Holloway is coming in this fight with two losses against the Featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski and Kattar is on a two-fight win streak after his loss against Zabit Magomedsharipov.
In his recent interview with ESPN, Holloway told that most of his training during these days is taking place via zoom sessions due to lockdown orders in Hawaii but still he is confident that he doesn’t need sparring coming into this fight. Holloway says, “I really loved how the last camp I didn’t spar,”
“It opened my eyes. I get injured sparring a lot before fights and I felt great going inside that fight without sparring. Sparring is like an ego trip. I understand you got to do something but you can figure out different ways to move and get it done. … During the whole training camp, it helped a lot to actually put our priorities straight.”
“I got to take out some things, I got to add a little more things. It was just changing up the recipe and the last one, I thought went pretty well and we’re kind of sticking to it and we’ll see how this one goes.”
Holloway stopped sparring for long term health benefits

Max Holloway also pointed out the leaving sparring will also give him long-term health-related benefits and it will also keep him free from injury. While talking about his fight against Kattar, Holloway says,
“No, saving the brain. I want to be a guy who, third-grade math is already hard, so I can only imagine if I was getting punched in the head and trying to help Mini Blessed.” It is going to be really interested to see how the fight of Max Holloway will go against the ‘Boston Finisher’ with no sparring session.
