WNBA star Angel Reese is enjoying her busy offseason. She has taken the time off to build her brand and sign endorsement deals as she recovers from her wrist injury. But waking up today, she first took a glance at the US Presidential election vote count showing the battle between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

Angel Reese had been actively asking people to vote over the past few days. But she did not declare which side she was on even when prompted during her rookie WNBA season. At the time, she clarified that she had no idea who was saying what, but still asked people to vote.

Her answer seemed to be a diplomatic way of handling politics. Something her rival Caitlin Clark did not bother about when she subtly endorsed Kamala Harris. But for Angel Reese, voicing her political opinions out loud did not interest her.

She is being mentored by Shaquille O’Neal, the NBA legend who has always walked the path of being unpolitical. It could be that he suggested her to stay away from giving her opinion on politics too. But when Angel Reese woke up this morning, her first post on X suggested otherwise.

She did not indicate what made her speechless. It could be that she reacted to Angela Alsobrooks being the first black person elected to the US Senate from her native Maryland. But that would make her ecstatic as it pertains to local politics, speechless is probably when she realized that Kamala Harris lost, and Donald Trump won.

The Chicago Sky rebounding phenom might not have said it clearly, but that is not the case with her colleagues in the WNBA. Many were active supporters of Kamala Harris all throughout her campaign. With a league that employs black women of various orientations, the news of Donald Trump winning did not leave a good taste in their mouths.
