“Can’t catch a break” – MLB fans react as Braves’ Spencer Strider lands on 15-day injured list just after return from TJ Surgery
Spencer Strider is going back to the injured list just a few days after returning from a UCL injury which kept him out for more than a year.

Atlanta Braves pitcher Spencer Strider is heading back to the injured list. Just days after coming back, the pitcher is going back to it after he strained his right hamstring while playing catch on Monday afternoon.
Strider, the ace pitcher of the Braves, had an amazing 2023 season. He finished that year with a 20-5 record, 281 strikeouts and 3.86 ERA. Despite this numbers, he did not win the Cy Young Award.
There were heavy expectations on his shoulders during the 2024 campaign. The Braves would suffer an early blow as he was diagnosed with a Ulnar Collateral Ligament (UCL) tear in his right elbow. After making just two starts, he was ruled out for the rest of the season as he was forced to undergo Tommy John Surgery.
Last week, he made his much anticipated return to the mound. The game saw him pick up his 500th career strikeout albeit in a losing effort. He was expected to start the game on Tuesday against the St. Louis Cardinals.
However, Strider strained his hamstring while playing catch at Truist Park. He then informed the team that he would not be able to play the next day. The Braves would later place him on the 15-day injured list.

This injury to him comes at a time when the Braves’ rotation is struggling on the mound. Chris Sale, who won the National League Cy Young Award last year, has a 6.17 ERA through five starts. Meanwhile, 2024 All-Star Reynaldo Lopez made just one start before undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder. He is likely to be out till August this year.
Social media reacts to Spencer Strider getting injured once again
Last week, the fans were hyped up to hear the news about Spencer Strider returning to baseball action. He and Ronald Acuna Jr. both suffered long term injuries last season and were ruled out of action which had a massive affect on the performance of the Braves in 2024.

While Acuna Jr. is still getting ready for a return to the field, Strider is heading back to the injured list. His latest hamstring injury has landed him on the 15-day injured list.
Fans on social media were unhappy to hear about this. Given their disastrous start and the suspension of Jurickson Profar, one user on X voiced his frustration by writing, “Can’t catch a break.“
Check out that and some other reaction from this development on X below:

Before making his 2025 season debut last week, Spencer Strider took part in 3 minor league games at Triple-A Gwinnett. During this, he managed to pick up 27 strikeouts and posted an ERA of 1.32 while allowing only 11 base runners.
Atlanta Braves make late comeback to win against St. Louis Cardinals following latest injury to Spencer Strider
At the start of this week, the Atlanta Braves were all set to take on the St. Louis Cardinals with Spencer Strider on the mound. On Monday, he got injured again and was removed from the team again. Despite his absence, a late comeback from the Braves saw them walk away as the winners.

After falling 3-2 down in the 6th inning, the Braves mustered a comeback in the bottom of the 8th inning. The team scored 5 runs with 3 of them coming from the bat of Sean Murphy. The catcher slammed a 3-run home run in this inning to extend his team’s lead to 7-4.
The Cardinals did fight back. They scored 3 runs in the top of the ninth inning to make it a 7-6 game and make things interesting. The Braves held on to their nerves in the end and claimed their 4th successive win.

The Braves, who started the season 0-7, now have a 9-13 record with 9 wins and 6 losses in their previous 15 games. They will be hoping to continue this run as they try to make MLB history this season. No team has made the postseason after starting the year with a 0-7 record.
