Hailee Steinfeld broke the internet with her engagement with NFL star Josh Allen. However, Shameik Moore seemed to be rather taken aback more than the fans. Moments after Allen and Steinfeld posted the announcement on Instagram, Moore left some peculiar posts on his X account.
Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen’s engagement post on social media featured the latter going down on one knee to ask ‘THE’ question. The two stood at the center of a frame of garlands and a gazillion candles with a seaside backdrop. The same day, Shameik Moore took to X to post what the fans called “heartbreaking” tweets. The tweet amassed over 3.6 million views within a few hours.

The tweet itself did not have any mention of Hailee Steinfeld or Josh Allen. However, the comments section of the post was filled with people speculating that it was directed at the newly engaged. It definitely surpassed a bearable point, especially for Shameik Moore, if his follow-up tweet is any indication. The Dope actor once again went to the platform to express frustration over the fact that people had a recurring habit of putting words in his mouth.
Regardless, the fans had good shreds of evidence to support their theory. Ever since Steinfeld and Moore played lovers in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the fans have shipped them, often making video edits. Additionally, the promotional interviews of the movie also created tremendous hype after Moore was seen flirting with the Hawkeye actress.

All the couple’s friends and family gathered to wish them joy including Allen’s Bills teammates and fellow football peers, including Taiwan Jones, Isaiah Mckenzie, and Trevor Lawrence. The Bills organization also joined in with the team’s official Instagram account.
An insider source close to PEOPLE revealed that the couple’s families were exhilarated about the news. They knew about the bond the two shared since the beginning of their relationship. Steinfeld has also previously been spotted with Allen’s mother at the Leveled Up Buffalo shop in East Aurora, N.Y.

Hence, it was a huge decision for the couple when they went Instagram official in July 2024.
