Shedeur Sanders has long been targeted as a product of nepotism. He came through the ranks at Jackson State and Colorado, two programs coached by his father and Hall of Famer Deion Sanders.
Sanders managed to put some daylight between himself and the criticism with a statement debut performance for the Browns. He threw two touchdowns to earn all the brownie points.
Those GMs in the NFL, they are looking real stupid right now. How did this brother got dropped to fifth round? Them GMs are looking mad stupid. And you know had to be some other things, some other element why that happened.
Film director and actor Spike Lee told Sports Illustrated in an exclusive interview
Sanders’ performance had the fans convinced that the Browns coaches would start taking him seriously by providing him with first-team reps. They were proven wrong after he remained buried in the depth chart.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski’s clarification about giving everyone an equal chance was met with backlash on social media. However, there was a visible change in Stefanski’s approach. Sanders finally practiced with players who are high up in the pecking order.
It may be a positive development, but from Spike Lee’s point of view, the Browns made the same mistake as other teams by ignoring him until late in the draft. It surprised him, considering the franchise’s horrible track record of developing quarterbacks.
When they got bum a** quarterbacks…Why didn’t they draft him? Five rounds went, and we didn’t draft this guy. And that’s what they get. F them.

Initially, analysts and draft specialists regarded Shedeur Sanders as the leading quarterback prospect, ahead of Cam Ward. However, perceptions changed over time, and by the end of March, Sanders’ draft stock declined from a likely first overall pick to falling outside the top 10 selections.
The situation worsened during the draft. He remained undrafted for the first two days and had to wait until the fifth round on day three to receive a call from the Browns general manager, Andrew Berry, and Stefanski.
This move came as a surprise because Berry had already secured Dillon Gabriel in the third round. Moreover, they had Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Deshaun Watson on the roster.
Berry later clarified the reason behind drafting Sanders after Gabriel.
The time that we spent with Shedeur and what he’s done throughout his college career is impressive. He’s an impressive young man. He’s a really good quarterback. Sometimes fit comes into play.

Berry appeared happy after Sanders capped off 138 yards on 14 completions (60%) in the Panthers fixture.

Will Shedeur Sanders play in the Browns’ second preseason game?
The Browns flew to Philadelphia earlier this week to hold joint practice sessions with the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles. These two sides are scheduled to play each other on Saturday.

Unfortunately, the Browns camp announced that Sanders is set to miss the game due to an oblique injury. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero elaborated on it.
Shedeur Sanders will not play tomorrow against the Eagles because of that oblique injury that knocked him out of practice on Wednesday. However, I am told that there’s cautious optimism that Sanders could return to practice next week and be able to play in the preseason finale.

The Browns have designated Sanders as day-to-day. Flacco and Pickett aren’t expected to play either, so the responsibility falls on Gabriel, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury.
