Sport 1 journalist Florian Plettenberg reports on Bayern Munich transfer plans for the summer window as they look to replace outgoing players
The established centre-back duo are departing this summer and Bayern Munich will look to bring in one or more defenders to replace them with Dayot Upamecano being mentioned

Bayern Munich expect some outgoings with players like David Alaba and Jerome Boateng already confirmed to leave the club. The club hasn’t decided to renew the latter’s contract while negotiations have broken down with the former. David Alaba is reportedly being courted by La Liga champions Real Madrid and Premier League champions Liverpool with the Austrian preferring a move to the Bernabeu.

Central midfielder and centre-back are the priority for Bayern Munich at the moment

Bayern Munich do have a lot of players in midfield like Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Corentin Tolisso, Javi Martinez, Marc Roca and Tiago Dantas. When Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka and Corentin Tolisso make up the midfield most of the time, the bench isn’t as good as expected. This is according to the reports and it has been reported that the Bavarian team is looking to add someone credible.

Javi Martinez is confirmed to leave the club while Corentin Tolisso’s inconsistency is not making his future at Bayern Munich certain. Youngsters like Jamal Musiala and Tiago Dantas will be given their chances to shine soon enough. New names like Denis Zakaria and Florian Neuhaus from Borussia Monchengladbach have been linked with the club and remains to be seen if anything comes to fruition.

Defence consists of Niklas Sule, Lucas Hernandez, Alphonse Davies and Benjamin Pavard while the established centre-back pairing David Alaba and Jerome Boateng are moving this summer. Lucas Hernandez is used as a rotation option of Alphonse Davies while Benjamin Pavard occupies the right back position. It will be interesting to see if Hansi Flick will look to the youth or get another defender in the summer window.
