The team’s prospects of making the playoffs were probably wrecked by the injury. Wemby’s failure to play 65 games this season also prevents him from receiving Defensive Player of the Year.

Notably, a renowned sports doctor Brian Sutterer gave a clear explanation of Wemby’s injury. But before that, another MD, Dr. Jesse Morse had a weird theory. He posted on X that the COVID-19 vaccine must have had a role to play in Wemby’s shoulder injury. This left the whole NBA world baffled, raising widespread controversy among the community.

Nevertheless, Sutterer gave Morse a taste of his own medicine on X. He replied to Morse’s X post and wrote, “People still follow this guy??” After that, Sutterer also cleared the air over Wemby’s injury and the seriousness of it. He also helped fans understand the medical aspects of Wemby’s injury on his well-known YouTube channel.

The 21-year-old superstar is coping with Paget-Schroetter disease, Sutterer revealed in the video. This type of shoulder blood clot frequently occurs in athletes who engage in repetitive, high-volume overhead activities. He observes that the motion causes the vein to anatomically retract in a small area, which results in a blood clot. This is a 3-6 months long process according to the sports doctor, and is not life-threatening.

Jason Smith & Mike Harmon spoke about Victor Wembanyama‘s blood clot in his shoulder on the Doug Gottlieb Show via Fox Sports. Notably, Smith stated in the show that this same injury ended former Miami Heat star Chris Bosch‘s NBA career. This take brought out some fear amongst Wemby fans. However, sports doctor Brian Sutterer did not agree with this and lashed at Fox Sports via his socials.
