The horse Mage won the 149th Kentucky Derby at Louisville, Kentucky, on Saturday. Rode by jockey Javier Castellano, the 3-year-old chestnut colt was able to edge out Two Phil’s and Angel of Empire to bring home a maiden win in the competition.
However, what’s more amusing is how the internet has come up with hilarious reactions and jokes following the horse’s win. A Twitter user named Travis Allen pranks all horse racing fans with a joke which reads, “BREAKING: Kentucky Derby winner Mage turns down a meeting with Trump. Asked why, they said ‘If I wanted to see a horse’s a**, I would’ve came in second.”
Many might think this is real as it is posted from a verified account. However, this is a continuation of a long-running joke, back from when Maximum Security won the 145th Kentucky Derby in 2019. The tweet seems to take a jab at the former United States President, who is also interested in horse racing, especially the Kentucky Derby.
Former President Donald Trump attended the 2022 Kentucky Derby while hosting a whopping $75,000 per person fundraiser for the Super PAC “MAGA Again!” The 45th President made a public appearance at Churchill Downs, appearing on the big screen 20 minutes before the start of the race.

Seven horses counted as fatalities after the 149th Kentucky Derby
Keeping all fun and jokes aside, the Kentucky Derby this year was fatal, with an unusually high number of deaths in the days preceding the event. Since April 27, seven horses died, with two dying in earlier races leading up to the main event on Saturday.
Two horses named Chloe’s Dream and Freezing Point sustained serious racing injuries and could not recover before the race on Saturday. As informed by Darren Rogers, senior director of communications and media services for Churchill Downs, both had to be euthanized for humane reasons.
In a news release, Churchill Downs informed on Saturday night about the condition of both horses before the race. Chloe’s Dream suffered a right knee fracture during Race 2, while Freezing Point suffered a left front biaxial sesamoid fracture in Race 8.
Churchill Downs has confirmed that in association with the Kentucky Horseracing Commission and Horseracing and Integrity and Safety Authority, each of these separate incidents will be investigated and probed further. Through this investigation, the concerned authorities will look forward to discovering all the health and environmental risks which can be mitigated to improve the safety of the race.
