On December 8, 2024, four-time MLB All-Star Juan Soto shattered the internet when he chose to join the New York Mets on a massive 15-year $765 million deal. Since then, several New York Mets fans have trolled the New York Yankees for losing out on him. A WFAN sportscaster has now taken a brutal dig on them and urged them to focus on their roster.
Soto spent the 2024 season in the Bronx and became a fan favorite. He played a huge part in the team’s run to the World Series. In the free agency, many expected him to re-sign with them on a massive deal.
However, that did not turn out to be the case as the Dominican international chose the Mets over the Yankees. Sportscaster Keith McPherson was not a fan of the trolls and jokes labeled at the Yankees since then.
Speaking at WFAN Sports Radio, he spoke about the recent moves made by the Yankees and how they are looking like the best team in the American League. McPherson later added that the Mets might not even be a top 3-4 team in the National League.
Keith says Mets fans are spending way too much time commenting on Yankees offseason moves.

Following the loss of Soto, the Yankees have made some aggressive moves in the offseason. They have acquired Devin Williams, Max Fried, and Cody Bellinger through trades and free-agency signings.
Apart from this, the Bronx Bombers are expected to make a few more big moves. While the team has scheduled a meeting with Roki Sasaki, they are also linked with some top free-agent first basemens. GM Brian Cashman has sent an emphatic message to the NY Yankees fan and urged them to ‘stay tuned’.
Former Yankees pitcher Clay Holmes comments regarding reunion with Juan Soto at NY Mets
In this offseason, Juan Soto was not the only former New York Yankees star to join their cross-town rivals New York Mets through free agency. The National League side added pitcher Clay Holmes to their team on a 3-year $38 million deal. On Tuesday, he spoke about his reunion with Soto.
The Holmes deal came before the Mets signed Soto. In an interview with SNY, the pitcher claimed he was hoping for the 26-year-old to sign with his new team. Once the move was announced, the former Yankees pitcher was left “ecstatic”.
One interesting thing about his deal with the Mets is that Holmes will be transitioned to a starting pitcher. In his MLB career, the right-hander has worked as a relief pitcher instead of being a starter.
However, in recent seasons, several relievers have become starting pitchers and have enjoyed success with this transition. Holmes has pitched as a starter in the minor leagues and is hoping to achieve similar success like other pitchers with the Mets in 2025.
