Stan Wawrinka, like Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal and many other top stars, has decided to give this year’s US Open a miss. The three-time Grand Slam winner is instead looking to play at the upcoming Prague Challenger. The interesting thing to note is that Stan will be competing at the Challenger level for the first time since 2010!
The last time the Swiss played a Challenger tournament was in Lugano, where he emerged champion. Wawrinka is looking super excited to be back at playing professional tennis after such a long break.
Can’t wait for the tournament to begin: Wawrinka

Wawrinka should be the favourite, however, after a long break, every player will be starting from the scratch. Everyone will be first looking to find the right rhythm. Stan also emphasizes on the same. “It is pretty amazing to be back at competitive tennis. ProbPractice has gone well and can’t wait for again going through the grind, ” said the Swiss as qouted by Tennis World USA
“Probably a few wins under the belt and rhythm will be back. Looking forward for a good performance in this beautiful city of Prague, where I am returning after a long, long time.” he added.
It would be interesting to see how the decision of missing Cincinnati and US Open would work in Wawrinka’s favour. Let’s hope for a big comeback by the Swiss superstar.
