Paul George recalls locker room story of inappropriate reporter

Earlier this month, the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) urged the NFL to make ‘urgent changes’ to the media policy in players’ locker rooms. The situation arose after many described feeling uncomfortable around creepy members of the media.

Now, NBA veteran Paul George has come out in support of these claims, stating that NBA locker rooms face similar issues as well. During an episode on his podcast, ‘Podcast P with Paul George,’ the 76ers star claimed that many NBA players face inappropriate situations in locker rooms owing to the gawking eyes of some media members.

The 14-year NBA veteran recounted the story of a reporter in Washington who would stare at the ‘meat’ of players in locker rooms following games.

There was an incident and there was, even way back, you know before my time of being in the NBA, where guys would talk about this situation. There was a reporter in Washington that would look at dude like stare at dudes like meat, while they’re like you know changing.

Paul George detailed how many players feel uncomfortable in locker rooms due to the unregulated media presence. As more and more NFL players chime in on the ‘meat watcher’ conversation about male reporters, George, too, called for regulation of the media in NBA locker rooms.

The 34-year-old star spoke about the sanctity of locker rooms for players, as most players get a few moments to relax in their locker rooms following games. However, as many players cool down while only wearing towels or undergarments, it becomes an uncomfortable environment with reporters sneaking around locker rooms trying to scoop stories.

Paul George injury update as the Sixers begin season with defeat

The Philadelphia 76ers kicked off their NBA season against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night, and lost 124-109. The Sixers had to suit up without two of their leading stars, with Joel Embiid and Paul George both ruled out with injuries before the game.

Embiid continues to manage his lingering knee injuries with no timeline set for his return. As for George, the 8x All-Star suffered a scary injury during the Sixers’ preseason matchup against the Atlanta Hawks. Although the team announced that George will miss the season opener, there remains hope for the All-NBA forward to join the team in the coming days.

The Sixers announced that George will be reevaluated in the coming week to determine his return from injury. Sixers fans will be desperate for positive news as the team enters this season with championship hopes around the big 3 of Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey.

But with two of their stars already out to start the season, concern is rising amongst 76ers fans. Thankfully, the season is 82 games long, and there remains ample time for the Sixers squad to get together to prepare for an NBA Championship run.
