An angry Steelers fan told Aaron Rodgers to retire after the veteran quarterback failed to end the playoff drought on Monday night, the one night of the week where the Steelers had won their last 11 games. And it wasn’t even a close game, as reflected in the final score. The Texans won 30-6.
Honestly, the Steelers fans have every right to be angry at not just Rodgers but also at the coaches. Seven straight playoff losses are bound to sting a little for fans who are used to seeing the Steelers win big games in the past.
Rodgers looked exhausted, struggling to connect with his receivers, which only added to his frustration. He finished with 17 completions from 33 attempts for 146 yards, threw no touchdowns, and had one pick. Not to mention, the ball barely traveled further than five yards through the air. He averaged just 4.4 yards per attempt, took four sacks, had two fumbles with one lost, and a pick-6.
The usual buzz inside Acrisure Stadium had shifted into a chorus of boos and jeers aimed at the players. Rodgers and head coach Mike Tomlin caught most of the flak from fans. One of them even went as far as to shout, “Aaron Rodgers, retire” at the 42-year-old signal caller.

Aaron Rodgers hints about his future following the Steelers’ playoff exit
Rodgers joined the Steelers after two forgettable years with the New York Jets. Analysts wrote the Steelers completely. Some even predicted Tomlin to record his first losing season. The season went down to the wire. It had to be decided in the final week. In the end, a missed kick by the Ravens’ kicker propelled the Steelers into the playoffs and secured them the AFC North title.

The 10-7 Steelers’ journey finally ended at the hands of the Texans. The big question now is whether Rodgers will return for the 2026 season, explore free agency, or retire. In reply to the media’s questions, Rodgers kept his answer direct, and in doing so, he also shared his opinion about Tomlin’s future in Pittsburgh.
I’m not going to make any emotional decisions… Obviously, Matt [LaFleur of the Packers] has done a lot of great things in Green Bay, and we had a lot of success. [Mike Tomlin] has had more success than damn near anybody in the league for the last 19, 20 years.

If that was truly Rodgers’ final game in the NFL, his last throw will be that pick-six.

The Steelers wisely agreed to only a one-year deal with him. Rodgers later clarified that he was the one who asked for it.
I’m pretty sure this is it [for me]. That’s why I just did a one-year deal. The Steelers didn’t need to put any extra years on that [or anything]. This was really about finishing with a lot of love and fun and peace for the career that I have had. I’ve played 20 frickin’ years. It’s been a long run, and I’ve enjoyed it.

AR played his heart out for the city. It was far from perfect, but he still completed 65.7% of his passes for 3322 yards, 24 touchdowns, and just 7 picks. The four-time NFL MVP savored every moment of the season.
I was fortunate to play in an incredible football city for 18 years … and this has been a beautiful backend. There are only a few really special places in the league that have the tradition and the town and the organization, and I’m thankful to have played for 2 of them.

Aaron Rodgers will go down as one of the best, if not the greatest, passers of a football. The Hall of Fame is the place he undoubtedly belongs.
