Pat McAfee is planning something big that may involve his good friend Aaron Rodgers. The veteran free-agent quarterback is in talks to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but even after negotiating for the past month, it’s hard to zero in on how far along the two sides are on agreeing on a contract.

The Steelers are the favorites to sign the 4x NFL MVP, and Mike Tomlin is pushing for it to happen. However, Rodgers, in his classic Rodgers fashion, is making everyone play along at his own pace.

This is where Rodgers’ friend and one-time colleague comes in. The host of ESPN’s Pat McAfee Show is heading back to his hometown of Pittsburgh for ‘The Big Aht’ at the Pelicans PPG Paints Stadium.

Steelers insider Andrew Fillipponi speculated that Aaron Rodgers will make his move to the Pittsburgh franchise official at McAfee’s event.

Buzz: Pat McAfee’s sold-out Big Night Aht is Wednesday night in Pittsburgh. It’s a fan theory that Aaron Rodgers will announce he’s signing with the Steelers at that event.

Andrew Fillipponi wrote on X

The tickets for McAfee’s show went live early in March and sold out after just 90 minutes.

This morning I had no clue what was going to happen with these ticket sales. we haven’t done this in a long time. PPG Paints Arena, in my hometown of Pittsburgh, was sold out in 92 minutes. I am so [very] grateful. I can’t wait to enjoy a night together. and let’s have a BIG Night AHT.

What are the chances of the Steelers announcing the signing of Aaron Rodgers at McAfee’s event?

Fans and analysts always keep a keen eye on McAfee’s show on YouTube. Everyone knows if anyone wants an update on Rodgers’ whereabouts, the former Colts’ punter would be among the first to hear about it.

Rodgers joining the Steelers caught steam after he spent six hours at the Pittsburgh facility and then played catch with new Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf at UCLA. Despite the evidence, Rodgers has stayed silent.

Former Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger theorized that the reason Rodgers is taking so long to make a decision is because he still hopes to play for the Vikings.

I think Aaron is still secretly holding out for Minnesota, which is why he hasn’t signed with the Steelers.

Ben Roethlisberger said

When McAfee was pressed to provide a sneak peek behind the curtain, he gave a vague answer.

There’s never been anything from Aaron [Rodgers’] team that says he’s making a decision. There’s been nothing from Aaron Rodgers about him playing ball like there is literally nothing. And there’s been cities that have gone through full cycles. This guy’s gonna be our quarterback all the way to f**k this guy.

So why does all of a sudden Fillipponi believe Rodgers will sign for the Steelers at McAfee’s Big Night Aht? Rodgers’ fondness for theatrics aside, it’s McAfee selling an additional 1750 tickets that caught everyone’s attention.

Going to give away a bunch of money, going to have some spectacular talent in the building. Hopefully we have a Wednesday night that’s talked about forever.

Rodgers announcing his signing with the Steelers at McAfee’s event is only a speculation at this point. However, the Steelers correspondent for the Pat McAfee Show, Mark Kaboly, outright tried to nip the chatter in the bud.

Regardless, the buzz will definitely attract a lot of eyes to McAfee’s event. Football fans want to see an end to Rodgers’ game of tag and focus on the draft.

If Rodgers doesn’t sign, then the Steelers will turn to drafting a QB at 19. They are linked to Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, who was initially projected as a late second or early third-round pick, but the NFL recently sent him an invitation to attend the draft in Green Bay, which only first-rounders receive.
