Stefanos Tsitsipas shared a cryptic tweet about players arguing with the umpires after his third win at the Monte Carlo Masters. He defeated Norway’s Casper Ruud easily in straight sets (6-1, 6-4).
The tournament has seen several outbursts from players due to the umpire’s call. Russia’s Daniil Medvedev lost his cool during his opening match against Gael Monfils after two controversial line calls.

Though the Russian won the match and he and chair umpire Mohamed Lahyani exchanged apologies, the 28-year-old burst out over a mistaken line call again in another match and even smashed his racket in frustration. When Medvedev asked for the supervisor, chair umpire Carlos Bernardes called the physio, and the Russian screamed that he did not call for the physio.
Then, during the quarter-final match between Jannik Sinner and Holger Rune, the latter was handed a time violation, but boos from the crowd frustrated the Dane, and he received the code violation after a hand gesture at the crowd. The Dane argued with the umpire, explaining his side of the story to the supervisor.
Now back to Tsitsipas: though he didn’t directly take a dig at anybody here, he has often been involved in on-court altercations with Medvedev. His post seemed to imply that it’s useless to argue with the umpires, who know more than the players.

Netizens slam Stefanos Tsitsipas for his take on player-umpire arguments
Though at whom he took a dig is not clear, citizens started assuming Stefanos Tsitsipas indirectly talked about Daniil Medvedev’s arguments with the umpire. The two share an intense rivalry. Fans slammed Tsitsipas more for getting lucky despite hitting double fault against Jannik Sinner.

Sharing a wide spectrum of reactions online, here’s what fans have to say:
Notably, the semifinal match between Tsitsipas and Jannik Sinner also caught attention because of a wrong call by the line judge. On breakpoint, Tsitsipas hit a double fault, but the umpire’s mistake gave him the point.
Tsitsipas went on to win that match in three sets: 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. Later, he called himself lucky and admitted that the double fault would have shifted the momentum.
He talked about how many clay tournaments rely completely on the marks on the surface rather than using electronic line calling. Tsitsipas also claimed that as he plays a lot on the surface, he has gotten used to it and doesn’t rely on the umpire’s judgment.
So I have learned this way. That's why I don't get into conversations or arguments with umpires because I understand mistakes can happen. I try to rely entirely upon myself. That's what I grew up doing.Stefanos Tsitsipas said after the match against Jannik Sinner
The 25-year-old Greek will play at the Barcelona Open next year. The title at the Monte Carlo Masters was his first ATP title after eight long months.
