There was a time when Stefon Diggs was labeled as the outcast with the Buffalo Bills, and then as a receiver past his prime when he was with the Houston Texans.

In those years, he bore the brunt of those siding with Josh Allen, as they believed the wideout was the cause of unrest inside the Bills locker room. Not just their supporters, but even many casual football fans celebrated when the franchise traded him away.

Then, during his time with the Texans, those same fans subtly celebrated when Diggs ended his season early after tearing his ACL. It seemed that no one wanted him to succeed before Allen did.

That narrative took a turn after Josh Allen’s turnovers played a big part when the Bills were knocked out of the Divisional Round. Now, Stefon Diggs has added more to that narrative after punching a ticket to Super Bowl LX.

They were calling me washed. Saying I didn’t have it no more. I just wanted to prove it to myself, I am who I say I am. This team took a chance on me. I just wanted to make them proud. Just thankful.

Stefon Diggs told Cameron Wolfe

The 32-year-old had tears flowing down his cheeks as he said this. It was evident from his demeanor that he felt life came full circle, and that this win over the Denver Broncos flipped all the trolling and criticism he faced in the past.

Stefon Diggs thankful for having Drake Maye at quarterback

During his conversation with NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, Stefon Diggs then went on to talk about how God’s plan has eventually worked in his favor. Then, when the reporter asked the WR about his QB, he said:

That’s a soldier, man, that’s the MVP, man. That’s the guy that stands 10 toes, battles through adversity. He’s a hell of a player. I’m riding with Drake Maye, I’m thankful to have a QB like that. I’m going to give him everything I’ve got every time.

Stefon Diggs replied

This was a continuation of what the Alabama native has been saying about Drake Maye all season long. Diggs reminded everyone that his QB is the true worthy winner of this year’s regular-season MVP award.

At the same time, he reiterated that he was thankful to have a signal caller in the modest and soft-spoken Maye. This may not have been a direct slight at the likes of Josh Allen, but him saying that he would do everything he can to help his QB are not words he has used before.

Stefon Diggs claims Super Bowl timing was perfect

From his answers, it seems Stefon Diggs is thankful that at least he managed to reach a Super Bowl. Since he managed to do that before his Buffalo Bills teammates, most notably Josh Allen, the media wanted to know what it felt like to have the last laugh.

For me, I’ve been in the league for 11 years. I fell short so many times. I can’t say nothing but perfect timing as of right now, coming off an ACL injury… It all happened exactly how it was supposed to.

Stefon Diggs replied

It seems he is reveling in the fact that, after everyone counted him out and even questioned the Patriots for handing him a major contract coming off an ACL tear, he still had the last laugh.

Diggs can complete the comeback when he and his New England Patriots take to Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, in their efforts to win the first Super Bowl since the Tom Brady era.
