Stefon Diggs doesn’t believe in the concept of ‘being a bigger person,’ especially when it comes to his long-standing rivalry with Jaire Alexander. This attitude was evident during his heated altercation with the Green Bay Packers wide receiver and his teammates on Sunday.

Following the pre-game warm-ups on Sunday, a heated verbal exchange erupted on the sidelines between Diggs and Alexander, which further led to a physical altercation involving many of the Packers team members against the lone Houston Texans’ star. Things escalated so quickly that the officials and coaches had to intervene to separate them.

In the post-game press conference, the four-time Pro Bowler finally addressed the pre-game incident, sharing what pushed him to that level of shoving and pushing. While walking to the locker room, Diggs heard his rival, Alexander, blabbering something about him which instantly triggered him, and he went for a fight.

I don’t give a f**k if I’m by myself or with a million. I’m never the bigger person. I ain’t letting s**t go. They picked it up or whatever. But I ain’t with the football tough guy s**t.

Diggs and Alexander have a long bitter history, continuing since his time in the Minnesota Vikings. In fact, this wasn’t their first pre-game incident as it also happened previously in a matchup between the Vikings and the Packers, when the two were seen jawing at each other while coming out of the tunnel.

DeMeco Ryans expresses displeasure over Stefon Diggs’ tussle with Jaire Alexander

As much as the All-Pro receiver had wanted, head coach DeMeco Ryans was displeased by his behavior, and he made sure to express it publicly. As Diggs didn’t explain exactly what happened, Ryans responded by highlighting both players’ history during the post-game press conference.

Those guys have a history. They’ve been going at it before. We don’t want to encourage that, right? We just want to go play ball the right way and make sure it’s settled on the field. We can’t be about chirping and all the extra stuff, we just have to be about executing when the ball is snapped.

DeMeco Ryans told reporters

Ryans’ frustration grew after his team lost to the Packers by a narrow 24-22 margin, and Stefon Diggs posted his lowest stats of the season, with just five receptions for 23 yards. Additionally, Houston’s passing game was completely out of sync, recording only 55 yards—their worst passing performance under Ryans’ leadership.
