The media and fans have been eager to hear Stefon Diggs’ perspective following accusations of alleged strangulation. However, the New England Patriots’ wide receiver has refused to speak on the matter.
The 13-3 Patriots are gearing up to face off against the 7-9 Miami Dolphins on the final day of the regular season. A win (and a Broncos defeat) will take them one step closer to claiming the AFC number one seed.
It wouldn’t have been possible without Diggs’ help. And thanks to the All-Pro wideout, the Patriots went on a ten-game win streak before losing to the Buffalo Bills in Week 16. The New York Jets paid the price in the following week as the Patriots scored 42 points against them.
However, the celebrations evaporated after Diggs’ personal chef accused him of strangulation. A Dedham Police Department officer recorded the whole incident between the two individuals, noting in the report that Diggs owed her money for the work she had done.
The male that she worked for entered her unlocked bedroom. They had been having an ongoing text exchange over money owed… She said that they began to discuss this, which apparently angered the male. She alleges that the male then smacked her across the face.
The police report read

Stefon Diggs responds to allegations of strangulation
The report stated that the victim nearly “blacked out” before Diggs threw her onto the bed. He left the scene, not before accusing her of lying. Soon after, the Patriots stated they were investigating the situation and expressed their support for Diggs.
We support Stefon. We will continue to gather information and will cooperate fully with the appropriate authorities and the NFL as necessary.

Amidst all of this, the man himself didn’t say a word, and all signs pointed to him missing the Dolphins game. The veteran finally agreed to face the media on Friday. But he refused to speak about the charges, as per Mike Reiss and Doug Kyed of ESPN.

"It's definitely an open case, so I can't even say anything about it."
TMZ released footage from the interview. In the clip, a frustrated Diggs called out the reporter for repeatedly trying to get him to discuss the case. “Is that a football question?,” Diggs countered.

Diggs is focused on the Miami game
The Patriots are the firm favorites to record a victory on Sunday and improve their tally to 14 wins (first time since 2016 when they won the Super Bowl). Diggs has played a key part in the Patriots’ comeback year. He has accumulated 82 receptions for 970 yards and 4 touchdowns, and stands a chance to finish the year with 1000 receiving yards.
It’s a prayer and a hope… If it does happen, I’m always happy. I’m thankful… Fingers crossed it happens. If it doesn’t, I won’t cry in the corner. If it does, I might shed a tear of joy.

Diggs went six straight years with 1000 or more yards (the Vikings and the Bills) before injuries ended that streak in Houston. He only played eight games and racked up 496 yards and three touchdowns with the Texans. The Patriots signed him to a three-year, $63.5 million contract at the start of the current campaign, and he has earned every penny.
