Steph Curry aiming for LeBron James’ longevity while aiming for NBA titles
A rejuvenated Steph Curry is aiming for more glory with the Golden State Warriors as their hot streak continues.

Steph Curry plans to match LeBron James in playing until age 40
Steph Curry is 36 years old and might be staring at the possibility of his stellar NBA career winding down. But the way the Golden State Warriors are playing, fans and the media have seen the rejuvenated star tearing the league on his own.
A lot of that resurgence has to do with their trade for Jimmy Butler. Curry had mentioned it that they are polar opposite as players, seemingly suggesting they would have to figure out how to make this work. But their results proved otherwise.
Draymond Green had mentioned that Butler’s intelligence is what is helping the team turn the tide. Gone are the days when it seemed as if the Warriors were going to miss out on a play in spot. Since February, they are 13-4.
More importantly, they are 12-2 since Butler arrived. In that timespan, Steph Curry seems to have gained a step, and his overall enthusiasm is a far cry from the disappointed look he sported earlier in the season. When asked how long he believes he can continue playing at the highest level, Curry said.
I know my contract is lined up and I’d like to outplay that, for sure.

His recently extended contract has him tied to the Golden State Warriors until the end of the 2026-27 season. He will be 38 years old by then. But if he sticks to his words and wants to outplay his contract, this means he is gunning to go for LeBron James‘ longevity.
Steph Curry aiming for title no. 5
He might not match LeBron James’ twenty-two seasons in the league. But he knows that with Luka Doncic’s arrival, James’ championship window has widened. The 40-year-old could retire from the Los Angeles Lakers with five NBA titles under his belt.
Steph Curry knows that he will not be able to match his Paris Olympics teammates statistical accolades. But he can match in terms of NBA title wins. If the Lakers do not win one, the Warriors superstar is in pole position to usurp his fellow Akron native.
Somebody asked me this summer, ‘What are you still playing for?’ [Number five] That’s literally the only thing you’re playing for… I like where we’re at right now. I think we have what it takes to do it.

The father of four did slam the brakes on expectations. He does not consider the Warriors a championship level team right now. They have another level to move up to become solid contenders. But they are building up to it.
Warriors are playing a different brand of basketball
Over the last decade, the Golden State Warriors have played one style of basketball. Constant switching and movements across the globe have routinely left Steph Curry and others free to score. But over the past two seasons, that style has vanished.
The primary reason was that the team were not playmaking enough for their leading superstar and others to flourish at a championship contending level. With the arrival of Jimmy Butler, that has changed. Although, it is not what they were used to for a decade.
With the former Miami Heat guard in the lineup, he is forcing opposing teams to focus on him. Now opponents are split on who to double team. This has not only helped their two primary superstars shine, but their role players are also being able to contribute.
In that November to January stretch, role players such as Buddy Hield struggled. Now, he and others are flourishing. The team’s floor spacing has improved massively. Most importantly, their leading stars are not being forced to win a game or play excessive minutes.
