Steph Curry and Warriors back in mix for Jimmy Butler after Heat reduce asking price
Miami Heat lowering their asking price has seen the likes of the Golden State Warriors enter the Jimmy Butler sweepstakes.
Jimmy Butler could join Steph Curry and Warriors
The Miami Heat are trying hard to get another team to be interested in trading for disgruntled superstar Jimmy Butler. However, his age and recent injuries have seen very few teams show interest. But to make the situation easier, the Heat have now lowered their asking price.
Team ‘Godfather’ Pat Riley reportedly has lowered his demands as keeping Butler on the team is hampering their chemistry. The superstar’s latest show of frustrations did result in an indefinite suspension, but all that does not do the team any good.
As long as he is in the vicinity, Riley knows his players will discuss it amongst themselves. That is why he chose to ease off on his demands in trying to get new teams involved. Now, ESPN insider Shams Charania has come up with an update after a new team entered the conversations.
Therefore, the lowering of demands has helped the Miami Heat attract more teams to the possibility of trading for Jimmy Butler. It is not however clear how the Warriors are planning to get hold of the 35-year-old. But if they do, they will get a ‘dawg’ in their building to pair alongside the likes of Steph Curry.
Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler could be a force in the West
The Golden State Warriors have been trying hard to get hold of another solid scorer to pair alongside Steph Curry. However, other non-playoff teams knowing that have kept the price high. With the franchise not wanting to purge their future for immediate rewards, they have been patient.
However, as time went by, it was evident that they needed someone to come in. Their struggles since November have seen them out of play in spots. The six-time All-Star can easily be the second scoring option. By playing alongside Curry, he can take up the bulk of their perimeter defensive needs.
On the other hand, his elite competitiveness could bode well with Curry. The combination of the two of them along with Draymond Green could be the veteran catalyst that could drive the otherwise young Warriors team to go deep into the playoffs.
Even if they are a facilitator for the Phoenix Suns in their pursuit of the Miami Heat star, the Warriors could land another proven scorer such as Bradley Beal. Even draft picks will work for them as they look at other potential additions. All in all, the Golden State Warriors could use this situation to improve their struggling roster.
