Steph Curry is one of the most recognizable basketball stars across the world. But the superstar is also known for his humble nature and his efforts to promote other sports, especially when it comes to women’s basketball. With that in mind, he repped MiLaysia Fulwiley ahead of NCAA March Madness.

The South Carolina star is one of the most exciting young women’s college basketball players in the nation. She is great at both ends of the floor and is an important piece in the program’s attempts to repeat as NCAA Champions.

It is difficult to stand out in a squad that features several top ranked recruits. But Fulwiley has elevated her game enough to be that core piece, even if she comes off the bench. Now that March Madness is about to start, Steph Curry decided to hype her up.

He wore a t-shirt repping the 19-year-old to the game against the Toronto Raptors. This caught national attention considering one of the greatest basketball players of all time was repping a college player. After their first game, Jared Parker of WACH FOX 57 asked the sophomore if she had seen Curry rep her.

It’s a blessing, man. When I seen it, I couldn’t really say nothing. I almost cried, honestly. Just seeing how I grew up, and where I come from, nobody where I come from, that would never happen to them. I mean, I seen it and I couldn’t believe it.

This was after MiLaysia Fulwiley led all scorers in their 1st round matchup against Tennesse Tech. Her performance was impressive, but she was overwhelmed knowing Steph Curry had repped her before the tournament started.

Steph Curry signed MiLaysia Fulwiley to Curry Brand

MiLaysia Fulwiley has met Steph Curry before. The Golden State Warriors superstar saw the South Carolina native as someone who fit the bill in his attempts to help grow his sports apparel line, Curry Brand. This time last year, he signed her on to his brand.

She became the first college athlete to ever sign an NIL deal with Curry Brand. She already dons some of the top exclusive shoes from the brand and has led to a boost in sales in the state. With her elite skillset, she will likely be the face of the brand when she gets to the WNBA.

Curry wants to expand with players who he identifies with. He has stated that he does not want to grow his company in an inorganic way. That is why he is taking the slow path towards building his brand to compete with the likes of Nike and Air Jordan. Which is why he will sign athletes who fit his vision.

MiLaysia Fulwiley starts of March Madness with a bang

MiLaysia Fulwiley and the University of South Carolina entered this season knowing they will be the hunted in their quest to retain their NCAA Championship. They lost their star Kamilla Cardoso to the WNBA and were working to cope with the lack of size inside the paint.

But this team’s strength is in their guards. Fulwiley along with Te-Hina Paopao, Raven Johnson, Tessa Johnson and Maddy McDaniel make up a core that is hard to beat. That rotation of elite guards was too much for Tennessee Tech to handle in their March Madness opener.

South Carolina Gamecocks blitzed their opponents and won 108-48. That 60-point margin of victory showed how far ahead and tournament ready the team is. Fulwiley led all scorers with fifteen points. But more importantly her four blocks and three steals had eyebrows rising.

The guard comes off the bench and gives the team a different edge. This makes them a slightly different threat than what they were last time around. They did lose to UConn, Texas and UCLA earlier in the regular season. This performance shows those losses might have stoked the fire inside them.
