Wrestlepalooza proved to be a massive success, cementing WWE’s debut on ESPN as a historic night. With Brock Lesnar, Cody Rhodes, and Stephanie Vaquer all picking up statement victories, the event delivered in the ring. But one of its biggest moments came outside of it, when a cornerstone of the McMahon dynasty received a long-overdue honor.
That honor belonged to Stephanie McMahon, who was officially revealed as the first inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2026. The announcement came in unforgettable fashion. The Indianapolis crowd was already electric after AJ Lee’s emotional return match, but the atmosphere shifted when the arena lights dimmed and The Undertaker’s iconic gong echoed through Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
‘The American Badass’ rolled down on his motorcycle, but instead of circling the ring, he stopped short and walked directly to the ringside, locking eyes with McMahon. Taking a seat beside the former WWE CEO, ‘The Deadman’ had the entire arena buzzing with anticipation. Moments later, the real-life Mark Callaway himself broke the news: McMahon would be immortalized in the Hall of Fame.
What a moment! 🙌

The crowd erupted, and an emotional McMahon embraced her longtime friend as fans gave a standing ovation. The moment was made even more special by its timing. For the unversed, Hall of Fame announcements are usually reserved for WrestleMania season, making this a true surprise.
It also marked the second consecutive year The Undertaker has played messenger for a Hall of Fame bombshell. Earlier this year, he joined Shawn Michaels and Nick Khan in revealing that Triple H would headline the Class of 2025.
It is a fitting honor as McMahon has been part of the WWE folklore right from the start of the Attitude Era. The daughter of Vince McMahon, she wore many hats during her career with the company from 1998 to 2023. Stephanie began behind the scenes as an account executive and receptionist in 1998, before stepping into the spotlight a year later during Vince McMahon’s feud with The Undertaker.
Fans will never forget the chilling ‘sacrifice’ angle, where The Deadman’s Ministry of Darkness targeted Stephanie before she was dramatically rescued by Stone Cold Steve Austin. From there, she became both an on-screen star and a driving force backstage.
She captured the WWF Women’s Championship in 2000 while simultaneously working in creative, eventually rising through the ranks as director, senior vice president of creative writing, executive vice president of creative development and operations, and later chief brand officer.
Her influence extended into some of WWE’s most memorable storylines. In 2001, she and her brother Shane McMahon led the WCW/ECW Alliance in the legendary ‘Invasion’ angle against their father’s company. She also served as SmackDown General Manager from 2002 to 2003, before returning years later in a villainous role as part of The Authority alongside her husband, Triple H, between 2014 and 2019.

But perhaps Stephanie’s greatest legacy came in 2015, when she spearheaded the Women’s Revolution. At a time when female talent was often sidelined or reduced to eye-candy roles, she pushed for women to be featured in meaningful storylines and given the same spotlight as their male counterparts.

Stars like Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, and AJ Lee thrived under this new era, helping reshape the perception of women’s wrestling in WWE. It must be noted that Triple H already stated that a lot of surprises will come to light once Wrestlepalooza is done and dusted. And McMahon’s Hall of Fame announcement certainly has social media talking. Check out their reactions below.

I'll be right now basically Stephanie McMahon's been with WWE from the very beginning as it was called WWF as long as the Undertaker has been there

She really does deserve this. When WWE programming was hard to watch in the 2010s, The Authority made it worth watching. PERIOD.

The 2026 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony is set for WrestleMania weekend next April in Las Vegas. While it remains to be seen who will officially induct Stephanie McMahon, there’s no doubt that the honor is well deserved, recognizing her years of significant contributions to the wrestling industry.
