What a week it’s turning out to be for Stephanie Vaquer! She first inked a multi-year deal with WWE. And merely a day had passed when the Stamford-based promotion officially announced the former CMLL Women’s Champion for a couple of their live events this weekend. On Saturday night in Mexico City, she made her WWE in-ring debut, beating Isla Dawn.

In what now appears to be a backstage clip, moments before she headed out for her match, Stephanie Vaquer was greeted by none other than the reigning World Heavyweight Champion, Damian Priest. The video was posted by WWE on their official X handle. One could see El Campeon bestowing some words of wisdom on Vaquer. They exchanged some monologues in Spanish, with the newest WWE signee apparently grinning ear to ear.

Post her resounding victory over one-half of the current Women’s Tag Team Champions, Isla Dawn, the Chilean wrestler said she’ll visit NXT soon. It appears like she’ll have a sojourn under the White and Gold brand before heading to the main roster.

Shawn Michaels recently posted on X that he’ll see Stephanie down in Orlando soon. If one looks at it, she’s got to be one of the most dramatic signings WWE has made of late. Last week, she was the poster girl for CMLL and NJPW, being a double champion over there.

She also competed at the AEW Forbidden Door pay-per-view last month. The Gladiator went up against Mercedes Mone. Despite a fantastic showing, the Latino grappler lost her NJPW Strong Women’s title to Mone. For a while, it appeared like they’d meet again. However, that’s not to be, as Vaquer is now under the WWE umbrella.

Did Stephanie Vaquer consider going to AEW?

One would imagine what the odds were of Stephanie Vaquer’s potential switch to AEW before she reached an agreement with WWE. After all, the El Primera was featured in a title match at AEW: Forbidden Door in June.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful confirmed that both WWE and AEW had offered her a deal. However, everyone saw how things eventually panned out. Per a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Steph never really considered signing with Tony Khan‘s promotion on a serious note.

She apparently put pen to paper with WWE this past Monday. Following that, she told CMLL that Tuesday would be her last night working with them. As a result, Vaquer was let go by CMLL and NJPW, backed by a joint press release.
