LeBron James has had a few dust-ups with members of the media and former players. But none was more explosive than when he confronted ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith.

No one knew about it until a fan recorded footage became public. Since then, the 57-year-old has been trying to do his best to portray the Los Angeles Lakers superstar in a bad light.

However, those attempts seemingly backfired when James took to a show on the very same network that employs him, to troll Smith’s actions. That led to some rants and apologies, all from the analyst’s side.

The 4-time champion has generally kept quiet about it. On the other hand, Stephen A. Smith has not. This time, he chose to bring up race in his conversation with Ryan Clark on The Pivot.

You ever see LeBron go at a White boy? Let’s call it what it is. You ever see him do that? You’ll say you saw him come at me… I’m going to call it what it is.

Stephen A. Smith said

The New York native did acknowledge that James did call out his colleague, Brian Windhorst, in that appearance on Pat McAfee’s Show. Other than that, Smith believes the King intentionally targeted a black media member himself, as it was easy.

Journalist alleges ESPN reporter is on LeBron James’ payroll

LeBron James‘ skirmish with Stephen A. Smith was building for a long time, as the latter is not one of the Lakers’ star’s supporters. Former ESPN analyst, Bomani Jones, believes there are a few reporters who are almost in the superstar and Klutch Sports’ pocket.

LeBron had 3 guys in the media that he referred to as his ‘3 Wives’. It was Dave McMenamin, Chris Haynes, and Joe Vardon… McMenamin moved his life from Los Angeles to Cleveland. Dave McMenamin has a standing relationship with LeBron James.

Bomani Jones said on The Right Time

He alleges that Dave McMenamin has proven his affiliation with the all-time leading scorer since he has followed James for most of his career.

The Los Angeles native first moved to Cleveland to cover the NBA’s all-time leading scorer when he came back from the Miami Heat. Then, after that, McMenamin moved back to his home after James signed with the Lakers.

Paris Olympics teammate crowns LeBron James as the GOAT

After playing in the Paris Olympics as part of Team USA, Boston Celtics guard Derrick White mentioned how he was grateful to play alongside some of the greats of the game.

When he appeared on streamer N3on‘s live session, the NBA Champion agreed that LeBron James is the GOAT of basketball. White believes that since the Lakers star is still playing, one cannot call him that yet, but believes he will be once James retires.

The GOAT debate has sparked enough controversy between both sections of fans. Until he retires, those conversations will continue to dominate sports media.

The superstar’s fans will have to wait until mid-November before they can see him play as he recovers from the nerve injury he suffered during the offseason.
