Justin Jefferson has reset the wide receiver market. His monster contract has not only rewarded arguably the best wideout in the league, but has also posed a major problem for the rest of the league. Dallas Cowboys star wideout CeeDee Lamb is the one facing the biggest questions. With Jefferson’s market resetting deal, Lamb could demand similar compensation. However, Stephen A. Smith does not think he deserves it.

While speaking on this topic on First Take, the longtime ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith voiced opinion on the relative value and performance of NFL wide receivers. He mentioned that Jefferson’s performance has set a high standard.

I don't believe that CeeDee Lamb deserves as much as Justin Jefferson. I'd look at Ja'Marr Chase, that's a bad brother. In the case of CeeDee Lamb, you with the Cowboys, y'all have had ample opportunities to step up and show what you can do. And that hasn't happened. I'm not saying he don't deserve his bag. But he don't deserve as much or more than Justin Jefferson in my opinion.

Smith’s belief stems from the fact that Lamb has not made that big an impact on the Dallas Cowboys the way Justin Jefferson did. Not by the play on the field, and certainly not in marketing terms.

CeeDee Lamb has posted just over 5,100 yards in the 4 years he has been with the Cowboys. On the other hand, Jefferson has posted 1 yard shy of 5,900 yards during the same duration, despite playing 6 games less. According to Stephen A., Lamb should get his due, but he does not deserve it to be close to or more than Jefferson.

Stephen A. Smith started off the segment by sharing his thoughts on Jefferson’s contract extension news. Smith was all praise for the deal. He believes it will help the Minnesota Vikings in the long run.

He deserves every penny. He's only 24 years of age, he's an absolute stud and a star in this league. Widely recognized as the best in the game. Got hurt last year, missed about 6 games. But prior to that didn't miss any games. We know he's an all-world receiver and every single season he's had over 1000 yards. Had 1800 yards a year before last when he played all 17 games. The Minnesota Vikings did the wise thing and Justin Jefferson definitely deserves everything.

Smith believes with new rookie quarterback JJ McCarthy about to throw the football, they would need a stud receiver such as Jefferson to play at his best. Only then, can the young quarterback build confidence and develop faster on the gridiron.
