Since entering the WNBA, Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has been the talking point of the league. Many superstars and analyst have even had praising word for the young Fever rookie. However, WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes grabbed headlines with her negative comments about Clark.
Recently she had discussed about the Indiana Fever team and had deliberately left Clark’s name out of the conversation. This did not sit well many analysts, especially Stephen A Smith.
During an episode of her podcast ‘Queens of the Court,’ Swoopes showered high praise to the Indiana Fever but noticeably left out Clark’s name in the discussion. Seeing this, Smith decided to take matters into his own hands and discuss the situation on his ‘The Stephen A Smith Show.’ Smith stated that figures like Swoopes, who command a lot of respect in the WNBA, should not be criticizing the emerging talent in the league.

Smith called Swoopes’ actions for deliberately leaving Clark’s name out of the discussion outright crazy. This is not the first time Swoopes has taken jabs at Caitlin Clark. In earlier episodes of the podcast, Swoopes stated that even without Clark, the Fever is a playoffs team.
Many fans raised eyebrows over this take as Clark has increased the offensive rating of the team from 104.1 to 104.9. She is one of the main offensive tools for the Fever and is even leading the league in assists. Many fans criticized Swoopes’ comments as baseless.
Swoopes is known as one of the greatest basketball players in the WNBA. She has three WNBA MVPs and four championships under her belt. Swoopes was even honored as the league’s Top 15 best players. Her actions of making negative comments about Clark doesn’t sit well with someone of her stature.
Sheryl Swoopes praises Caitlin Clark’s rival Angel Reese
WNBA fans clearly understand the remarks Sheryl Swoopes made about Caitlin Clark. Despite dominating in her rookie season, Swoopes stated that the team did not need Clark. However, Swoopes has taken it a step further by praising Clark’s rival Angel Reese.
Recently on the show ‘Whistle’, Swoopes praised Angel Reese for dominating the competition so far. Swoopes went on to say that Reese is going to be a problem in the league. She even admired her rebounding skills and played her highlights on the show.

Reese is also having a great rookie season and is in strong contention for the Rookie of the Year award. Her rivalry with Clark has drawn comparisons to the legendary Magic Johnson and Larry Bird rivalry in the 90s. It will be great to see how the future of the two stars unfolds and who goes on to win the Rookie of the Year.
