The ESPN analyst and a prominent voice in the sports casting industry, Stephen A. Smith, once again ripped into his favorite enemy on the panel, Dan Orlovsky. Smith and Orlovsky are now on polarizing sides of the performance by Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams.

The Bears, led by Williams’ four touchdowns, defeated the Dallas Cowboys for their first win of the season. The performance from the second-year quarterback has earned praise from several media critics and analysts, including Rex Ryan and Dan Orlovsky.

Orlovsky, who has criticized Williams previously, said on First Take that this was the most professional performance he has seen from the Chicago QB.

He had calm feet and an aggressive mind. Loved it. The most professional performance I’ve seen out of Caleb. He was fantastic.

Dan Orlovsky said

Smith immediately took offense at Orlovsky’s statement about Williams. The 57-year-old called it the most ‘pathetic’ take he has heard from Orlovsky and claimed that he speaks uneducated for someone with a widely proclaimed knowledge about football.

This is one of the most pathetic takes that Dan Orlovsky has ever given on air. You have got to be kidding me. With your knowledge of football, you’ve forgotten more football than most people know.

Stephen A. Smith said

Smith put the Chicago win on Dallas Cowboys poor performance on the defensive side of the ball. He felt that the Cowboys left Caleb Williams with enough time to throw.

You saw how bad Dallas’ defense was. In the first half alone, you’ve got a situation where Caleb [Williams] completed passes of 65 yards, 41, 35, 31, and 29 yards all in the first half. Caleb Williams had time to call his honey or order Uber Eats.

Smith continued

He admitted that Williams showed that he has some skills and a bright future. However, Smith’s focus was on the fact that Orlovsky praised Williams for the win rather than attributing the Bears’ win to the Cowboys’ poor defense.

Damien Woody and Rex Ryan ripped into the Dallas Cowboys defense

The Dallas Cowboys’ defense was Swiss cheese on Sunday, which the Chicago Bears capitalized on to add one to the win column. In fact, to begin, they were subjected to eleven consecutive runs from the Bears.

Former Super Bowl champion Damien Woody ripped into the Dallas defense, calling them embarrassing. He added the team performed in such a way that was disrespectful to the players and the coaches.

They don’t have any respect for the coach or the players on that side of the ball. When you’re able to run down the opposition’s throat the way the Chicago Bears did to the Dallas Cowboys, it’s embarrassing. If you’re the Dallas Cowboys this morning, you should feel embarrassed by the way in which the Chicago Bears chose to come at you.

Damien Woody said on Get Up

Rex Ryan also joined in the rant about the Cowboys’ defense. Ryan admitted that he’s exasperated with the defense, but in contrast to what Woody said, Ryan also took a shot at the Cowboys’ coaches as well.

Where do you start? Where do you start?… ‘Let’s play our zone, let’s play our zone because we’re so smart.’ No you’re so dumb. You’re so dumb. I can’t stand it. Do something.

Rex Ryan said in a raised tone

The Cowboys, however, still feel like they are a playoff team. In the next week, the Cowboys take on the Green Bay Packers, who have one of the strongest defensive units in the league. The Packers, who were quite dominant in the first two weeks, will be looking to bounce back in Week 4. The defense from today and the offensive collapse would push them into a 1-3 if they don’t correct them.
