Stephen A Smith and Luka Doncic
Dallas Mavericks’ marquee player, Luka Doncic was not at his best in Game 3 of the 2024 NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics. Despite being good on the offensive part of his game, Doncic was visibly poor when it came to his defensive aspect of the game. Notably, Stephen A. Smith believed the same when he shared his opinions on the First Take Show.
Smith claimed on the First Take Show that Doncic was selfish and deserved the blame for his side’s loss to the Celtics in Game 3. He also claimed that Doncic often blames everyone else but himself and this was one of the reasons why the Mavs were on the losing side of Game 3. In addition, Doncic and his side are just 1 loss away from losing the 2024 NBA Finals.
lt was because of the level of selfishness and the lack of accountability. You are the superstar of the team, you are supposed to be the leader of the team...Lets not forget he's screaming at his bench and screaming at his coaches...He's pointing the finger at everybody but himself. On the First Take Show, Stephen A. Smith said
Although, Smith who is known for his weird takes, may be well and truly right this time as Doncic’s defensive record has been very poor in the NBA.
On the other hand, the Celtics’ star players were at their flying best at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. Jayson Tatum dropped 30 points, gathered 8 rebounds, and provided 8 assists while his partner Jaylen Brown dropped 31 points, gathered 6 rebounds, and provided 5 assists in their side’s Game 3 win against the Mavs.
Kyrie Irving comes in support of teammate Luka Doncic after Game 3 loss
Luka Doncic had an off night in particular against the Boston Celtics in Game 3 of the NBA FInals. After being fouled out in the fourth quarter, Doncic had to endure watching from the sidelines as his team, down 93-90 at the time, was unable to complete the comeback. This Friday night in Game 4, they will attempt to prevent a sweep. Notably, the Mavs’ Kyrie Irving came in support of Doncic in the post-match press conference.
It's easy to point the finger at him saying 'you could be better' that's easy to say and I think he knows that. Um, yes and it’s just reiterating that I got his back, and we all have his back.Kyrie Irving said in the post-match press conference
Irving and Doncic would know what they need to do to topple the Celtics in the remainder of the NBA Finals series.
In addition, Irving had one of his best games in the NBA Finals. Irving dropped a whooping 35 points, gathered 3 rebounds, and provided 2 assists but his efforts went in vain against the Celtics. Now, it remains to be seen how the Mavs’ players perform in the do-or-die Game 4 at the American Airlines Center.
