There’s no denying that this era is Patrick Mahomes’ as he arguably became the face of the NFL after winning three Super Bowls, including two back-to-back, in the last five years, four appearances, and six consecutive AFC championship appearances.
Having said so, it’s not wrong to think it’s tough to beat them especially when they defended their Vince Lombardi trophy last season despite having one of the weakest receiving squads in the league and are now aiming for a historic three-peat. While talking on the subject of the Super Bowl in the era of Mahomes, Stephen A. Smith has faith in one quarterback with the best chance to win against the elite quarterback– Philadelphia Eagles’ Jalen Hurts.
I’m gonna throw out this name, in all seriousness– Jalen Hurts. Let me tell you why I am throwing out Jalen Hurts. Because it’s a team game, right? And why are we ignoring Philadelphia Eagles? They got A.J. Brown, they got Davante Smith, they got Dallas Goedert okay? They just acquired Saquon Barkley. Their offense should be super fucking elite.Stephen A. Smith asserted on the recent episode of First Take
Smith highlighted that the Eagles not only have one of the most potent offensive lines but also the advantage of having home games in the coming season. He also appreciated the Super Bowl game from 2022-23 when Hurts gave tough competition to Mahomes and the Chiefs.
Jalen Hurts shows significant improvement in training camp
Regardless of how things ended last season, Hurts’ performance in Philly’s training camp has improved significantly. After not throwing a single interception throughout the camp, Hurts logged one on the very last day of the camp, but the Eagles have no complaints from him anymore.
Jalen has just had an excellent camp. He's got great command of this offense, great utilization of tools when he wants to, and communication with the offensive line, with the receivers. I just think it's been an awesome process. Excellent.Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore said
After the fiasco of 203, Moore revealed that the two-time Pro Bowler has been in the command of the offense, and not merely improving his individual game. Together, he and Hurts have been talking about improving the offensive plays and making the team stronger.
