Throughout Stephen A. Smith‘s career as a sports analyst, he has ended up beefing with some of them. Now, it is the turn of New York Jets star Garrett Wilson.

It all started when Oregon star Dante Moore was rumored to be weighing his options ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft. This year, he could slot behind Heisman winner Fernando Mendoza as the No. 2 overall pick.

With that possibility on the horizon, Stephen A. Smith said on First Take that Moore should do everything he can to not play for the New York Jets, who will be selecting second. Garrett Wilson took note of this and remarked on X that the analyst was another sellout. Naturally, this was going to come to the 58-year-old’s attention, who said this on First Take:

Did I stutter? The Jets are horrible… Garrett Wilson, you are a good brother, my man. And I don’t blame you for feeling salty about what I said. I wasn’t talking about you. I was pleading for you to get help. Meaning the kind of help Sauce Gardner got when they sent him to Indy.

The ESPN analyst went on to say that it was not a jab at any player. Rather, it was him reiterating how bad the New York Jets have been as an organization.

Smith believes it is imperative that current players, such as Garrett Wilson, should pack their belongings and leave MetLife Stadium if they want to have a semblance of success in their respective careers.

Garrett Wilson responds to Stephen A. Smith’s pleas to leave Jets

Before Stephen A. Smith went live on First Take, he had tagged Garrett Wilson on X, mentioning he would address the wideout’s response on his show. It seems the 6-foot pass catcher watched the episode.

Last thing imma say on it. I listened, and I ain’t like it, but that’s all okay. I just don’t want bad advice going out. That was bad career and financial advice that he himself wouldn’t even take. Not to mention, yeah, I take some of it personal. All good. Go Jets.

The receiver believes the analyst’s opinions were bad enough that he is not going to listen to them. Wilson’s tweet reiterates that he was not going to follow his former teammate Sauce Gardner out of the franchise.

He still believes his position with the New York Jets is good, even though they had a trying time last season. It is difficult to look for the silver lining when one becomes synonymous with losing, but Garrett Wilson is fine with their current situation.

Garrett Wilson’s teammate joins in to slam Stephen A. Smith

Garrett Wilson wants to believe that he and the rest of the New York Jets will be “good” once the top brass completes their rebuild. Jarvis Brownlee Jr., who spent less than a year with the team, seems to be on the same page.

What we pose to say sorry cause you going on dere running your mouth like female. Every organization had they ups and downs… Just like LIFE WE WASN’T THE ONLY TEAM WHO WON 3 GAMES.. Stop hating, you too old for that. Y’all be 60 trying to argue with 24-year-olds.

The cornerback came to Wilson’s defense while lambasting Stephen A. for providing an opinion that did not make sense. Brownlee Jr. seems to believe that with time, the Jets will also improve.

However, what seemed to really tick him off was that a man old enough to be Garrett Wilson’s grandfather was arguing with him on social media.
