There is no doubt that Stephen A. Smith and LeBron James have no love lost between them. Over the course of the past year, the ESPN host and the Los Angeles Lakers superstar have taken umpteen chances to prove that.

Be it the latter publicly berating the 58-year-old at a Lakers game, or the reaction from the analyst, which started on the very next day. Both have been throwing barbs at each other, with the latter going as far as he possibly can.

When James decided to troll Smith on The Pat McAfee Show, the New York native went a bit too far to bring up Kobe Bryant‘s death and Dwyane Wade‘s Hall of Fame ceremony to get back at the Lakers star.

However, those instances backfired, and he had to apologize. Even though he kept quiet for a while, Stephen A. Smith has again started to take shots at LeBron James.

Recently, he revealed that the 4-time champion had allegedly tried to threaten his job after their initial fallout. Usually, such things do not go unnoticed, especially if one is a fan of The King.

LeBron. The time has come for him, it’s over for him, bro. I don’t know why do you keep stroking him.

A fan said on The Stephen A. Smith Show on SiriusXM

The fan was trying to suggest Stephen A. Smith was constantly negatively talking about LeBron James, even though the 40-year-old is nearing the end of his career.

Stephen A. Smith lashes out at the fan

Usually, Stephen A. Smith does not respond aggressively to fans calling into his recently launched SiriusXM show. But in this situation, the ESPN executive producer had to shut that fan down.

Hold it!!! I’m a man. Don’t accuse me of stroking anybody, especially another dude.

Stephen A. Smith replied

His first reaction was to yell at the fan, as he wanted the caller to stop continuing to use the derogatory reference to Smith’s mannerisms towards LeBron James.

Once he yelled, the caller kept quiet, and Smith then proceeded to remind him that he does not do any such thing to anyone, especially since he is a man.

This fan remark seemed to have irked the father of two, as this was the worst manner in which he would expect anyone to define his standoff with the Los Angeles Lakers superstar.

Smith has not denied that he does not like James. But when someone, especially a fan, starts to paint this narrative, he would not be one to keep quiet.

LeBron James should make his season debut on Nov. 18th

Even though Stephen A. Smith has continued his beef with LeBron James, the latter has moved on and is now focused on his recovery before making his debut in the 2025-26 season.

While nursing a sciatica injury, it was reported that he would miss the first 3-4 weeks of the season. Then it was also reported that he has been working with the Lakers’ G-League outfit after he was cleared to play 5 on 5 basketball.

James is not with the team, which is now in the middle of a trying 5-game road trip. They are scheduled to return and play the Utah Jazz on November 18th.

If the 4-time league MVP’s recovery goes as planned, he should make his debut in that game. The Lakers have back-to-back games against the Jazz, making it the best soft-landing spot for the superstar.

The primary question on everyone’s mind is how James will play with the likes of Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves leading the line. How they maximize his skills will make the difference between a championship contender and a playoff contender.
